Worst company I have ever dealt with. Cancelled my account, but being threatened with debt collection agencies. They took funds from my bank even though I had cancelled. My bank looked into this and refunded the money to my account. Have given up dealing with them as they ignore what you are explaining and only reply with demands for money. Am letting this go to court in order to allow a judge to see what kind of company this is, and hopefully get some compensation for the stress and agro they have caused. BEWARE- stay well away from 1&1!!

My credit card expired and I was notified by one e-mail message to pay immediately. I sent a check to them (now I was told they don't take checks) which was never cancelled. Six weeks later I was contacted by a collection agency for one late payment. My website was dismantled. Amazing. Attempts to contact them by phone are futile. Do NOT use this company - they apparently terminate you on a whim and don't get the concept of "customer service."

We switched our ISP from one ISP to other, all we wanted to do is change the PTR record to new IP since we are running internal exchange. after being on phone for 2+ hrs and emails to their escalation team who apparently will not talk on the phone to resolve the issue is not able to solve a quick 3 min fix.. God knows if they have any technical person who can resolve the issue.. jay

after my credit card expired I assumed that 1 and 1 will simply terminate my service. Instead they issued an invoice and keep sending me e- mails threatening me with collector agencies. I wrote to the billing, tried to contact customer service - they refused to listen to my appeal. Now they want me to pay them via wire transfer and fax them a confirmation - WTF?

Since I registered a domain name from them for 3 years (and now i really really regret), I have not started any web hosting because I am so afraid to start anything. 99% of the web review about this outfit is negative. Yet I am also afraid to cancel because they will send me to collection agency.... Maybe I have enough courage to do it now.. Under Federal Credit Reporting Statue FCRA section 623 , these guys, not the collection agency, can be fined $1000.. I hope per complaint !!! A little paperwork, but does not cost us anything. It is time for the Feds to go after these guys when they think they are GOD... Everyone that has been harmed should do their duties. If not, flood the FRCA enough violations and hopefully they will be fined... 1and1 an Internet hosting company practicing here in the U.S., but headquartered in Germany is holding my domain: mainstreetpr.com hostage and trying to extort a ransom out of me! Whatever you do, don't ever use their services!! I moved my site to Hostgator (FANTASTIC TECH SUPPORT AND SERVICES!!!) in May 2010 and cancelled my hosting service. They continued to bill and I disputed. They sent it to NCO Financial for collections. I disputed. So, yesterday February 9, 2012 they shut down my domain when they didn't try hard enough to warn me. After all, it isn't hard to find me...I think a fourth grader could do it...let's see...if I go to the domain in question and see the contact info, maybe I can reach them! Or, if I receive an email with a new email address from the customer, maybe I should note that! So, here I am today after once again disputing my debt to the global conglomerate almost two years later! And they hold my domain hostage. I will not be silenced until they make it right! If you ever try to transfer your domain (and you will due to the service) this company will rip you off and steal your domain. Just take a close look at all the complaints filed against them. I was ripped off just like the rest and had to start a new domain with another company. These people are nothing less than criminal.

Poor customer service and questionable Information Security practices made me decide to drop them after a fortnight. Requests to be referred to someone senior and for their Information Security Officers details were ignored.Their templates are so basic they are not representative of their customer base. No excuse given they are such a huge company. they are clearly not spending their customers money on enhancing the experience with them... My seven year old daughter could do better.

I don’t have an voice to say about them, its not only sucker, its scammer and life killer, i lost my 2 years job, money and all.

Do not use 1and1. Technical support is based in the Philippines and is completely useless. I asked for a simple restore from backup on my files and they have yet to do it. I am barely able to understand the strong foreign accents. They have no U.S. based support. Good luck!
