1and1 has the cheapest price but the worst customer support
"I was with 1and1.com for years because they kept locking me into their contracts by adding features and upgrades without telling me that they were extending my contract. Their control panel goes offline at least once a day for several hours at a time. They have the worst customer support of any hosting company. It has been 5 months since my server was down, and they are still billing me, but have sent my support case to their higher level support team. If you are thinking about 1&1 for hosting, read all of the small print and search for other reviews on them. The best thing to remember is that the cheapest is not always the best. You will end up paying more in the long run. STAY AWAY FROM 1and1.com if you are looking for reliability and customer and billing support. 1&1 is cheap because their products and services are cheap."

A Quadriplegic company!
"24/7 Tech support is only able to make changes as long as the 9-5 department is open. Our account was locked because we sent out an email blast to our company subscribers, something very common to companies today. It was locked for email abuse. We called tech support to have it unlocked and were referred to the abuse department which was closed. They say to respond to the email notifications they sent us, but WOW! ... we can't get to our emails because OUR ACCOUNT WAS LOCKED! So now our website is down until tomorrow and we can't sell tickets to the event that we're hosting. Thanks 1and1, for being there when we need you most! "

Dont waste your time!! support is aweful billing is worse
"When your credit card expires they will send your account to a collections agency. You can pay the collections but then your account is still offline for 3-5 days!!! Oh and if you every want to cancel an account good luck they will bill you until your card expires and then just wait it they will send it to collections! OH AND THEY WILL HANG UP ON YOU IF YOU ASK THEM A QUESTION THEY DONT KNOW THE ANSWER TO HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES!!! I have over 50 domains with them I am now in in the process of transferring to Bluehost.com I cant wait to be done with 1and1.com. They were great about 2 years ago but as they grew there service and support went down hill fast! "

HORRIBLE
"The biggest and the fastest. I understand why. they are a sales company and not a hosting company! Adding services / features to your domain requires them switching packages requiring resetting everything as if you just purchased your domain/hosting. I will NEVER do business with them again "

Not even worth the price
"The price is cheap right ($10/month)? Well, you don't even get what you pay for. Had them for 1 month, and EVERY WEEK at least 2 times a week the website goes down. I have two different packages with them (Linux hosting and Windows hosting) and the same applies to both. Customer support is offshore, and extremely unhelpful (as they have no real power to help you, just run you through a tutorial). Don't waste your time. There are plenty of other mediocre companies who work better for even cheaper. This site spends most of its money on advertising and getting new customers rather than upkeep on their servers or current customers"
