If you want the bottom of the barrel, go with these losers. No customer service; I called the number one time and a woman answered "Hello??" I asked if this was Globat and she acted confused for a minute, then seemed to remember they run this company out of their basement and put me on hold until some other dude came around. Recently, the email server takes F O R E V E R to do anything. And they have no answers. This company is ma & pa at its worst, avoid this crap and go with a real company that knows what they're doing.

First of all.. think 10 meg file limit.. This is not a service if you want to stream massive video or audio. If you do, get a third party service and link it to your site like I do. Its cheap, cheap, cheap. I too am a sysadmin and have built many many sites. I use globat because they are cheap, but I have developed work around's that make their service useful. I have not had a problem with their tech support because I know exactly whats wrong and can request EXACTLY what I need done. Additionally, if you don't have the backup service, your stupid. Yes, they automatically bill you for different services. However, if you stay on top of your billing you can request a refund if you dont use what they are billing for. My needs are simple. I am a film composer that needs to send files back and forth with my clients. I've run into so many issues with downloading files via FTP. I can't download larger files, it times out. I called, the tech in some who knows what country, knew nothing of how to resolve this problem, I asked to speak with a manager and the support guy rambles on and refuses to let me speak and hangs up. Double negatives here..have a problem that shouldn't be an issue and then horrible support. I will be working on changing hosts and am anxious to spread the word on how horrible Globat is. DO NOT use this host. In fact, you will be given "offers" to upgrade and if you don't reply to decline the "offer" your service will be upgraded automatically and you will be charged for it! INSANE! I've been using Globat to buy domains for a while now (domainsarefree.com) because they only charge $3.99. I've had enough trouble with their tech support just from registering my domains with them let alone hosting them. I use Globat to buy my domains because of the price and host them with Godaddy. Anyway, I find their backend to be hard to navigate and not user friendly at all. When I have a problem tech support is able to give me a solid answer maybe 10% of the time. Last time I called Globat's website went down and the tech person said I'd have to call back when it was working again! I am very disappointed with this company and plan on moving my domains elsewhere soon. Do not do business with Globat!

I signed up with these folks because they seemed to offer a good set of features for a good price, but quickly regretted the decision when they started sending me emails at fairly regular intervals telling me they'd give me an upgrade I did not want for money I didn't want to pay, and I had to opt out within a certain timeframe (not very long. either). Not a good look if you're away from the net for any length of time! - I cancelled my hosting contract once my paid-for year was up, they bungled my domain transfer so I lost the domain, and charged me some money to my credit card for a domain name renewal which I had never opted for, but apparently would have had to opt out of separately, even though I had already gone through the whole process of cancelling my domain and contract. CONCLUSION: business practises not in accordance with any Fair Trading acts I know of, money eater for the unwary. Three thumbs down.

When I started with Globat it was a reasonable host and my needs were simple. Not long after I had been with them, they started to pressure me on a regular basis for upgrades at about $50 a pop with a deadline that demanded immediate response. They made it appear as though my site would suffer if I did not upgrade, and being inexperienced, I fell for their ruse. I had a domain that needed to serve a particular country, and it turned out that no one in that country could see my domain. All that Globat did was claim that it could not be so...despite the fac that more than one hundred contacts could not see the domain.

They have hosted my business site fine for 4 years. The issue is their "renewals" and "upgrades" They try to advise you that your site will go down if you dont pay, etc. This is deceptive, it's for upgrades, my hosting is payed. You understand the gimmicks, deception. I'd not do it again with them.

They say you can have unlimited domains. It is not true. YOu pay nothing for them 1st year and than 12$ each next year. It is not that cool.

In search of a good hosting solution, and after reading your comparison charts, i decided to go for http://www.globat.com/ .
After just a week or so of active membership (good speed, ftp uplod, mysql db, etc), i found myself without access (login error) and the explanation i received was and i quote "..your account and email were found suspect and one of our techs deleted your account...".
In addition i was told that the only sollution was to register again. (only a fool perhaps...).
I replyed to them that although my account was found suspect (i am yet to know in what aspect, and i do not accept de email explanation), the did not find suspect my payment in their account. (which no refund policy is available).
My advice: be carefull, and AVOID www.globat.com, as you may find yourself with your account deleted, from one day to another, withount ANY explanation, email, etc.

I've been with Globat for almost 5 years now without incident...until I decided to upgrade to their "Unlimited" space/bandwidth package. Of course AFTER paying 50.00 to upgrade, about a month later they tell me that I have too many files on my "unlimited" account. I had 60GB on there. They're telling me the space is to ONLY store web related files and NOT videos, pictures or music files. Umm...aren't those the type of files most people host? After asking them to hold off from deleting any of my folders until I came back from vacation...i came back from vacation and they deleted 2 huge folders. I've asking for a restore but they're taking their sweet time with that. Other then this..i've never had a problem.
