I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews of Startlogic, because my experience with them has been 100% positive. The only complaint I've ever had is that I thought the V-deck control panel would be harder to use than CPanel. That turned out not to be the case, and I've been able to do anything I needed to do with V-deck. I manage a large high-traffice forum on one of my sites, and recently moved two other sites from their previous host (IIC-Internet, don't get me started with them!) to Startlogic. When it was time to renew the hosting fee for my initial site with them, they emailed me ahead of time to let me know they would be charging my credit card. They didn't have to do that, but it was a nice little courtesy that I appreciated. I've needed to call tech support only once, and got an immediate response that completely answered my question. I'm in the process of moving another site to their service and hope I never need to have site hosting from anyone else.

I’ve just changed from a really bad hoster (Fasthosts) to Startlogic. I am very impressed with StartLogic indeed. The speed my pages now load is very fast, and the pages always load up perfectly every time (a couple of my big 40kb pages now load very quick, error free). The best thing is that StartLogic is ¼ of the price of my previous hosting company. The StartLogic control panel (Vdeck) seems a bit basic but it does the job fine without any problems, and the best thing is I don’t need to add a port to my firewall (another hosting company I tried [Mochahost] asked me to allow Mochahost to connect to my computer via a firewall port for control panel access). StartLogic offers unlimited data storage and bandwidth at a very reasonable price, and this combined with reliable uptime and quick page loading has left me feeling very impressed! The ‘live’ customer support was very quick and resolved my questions easily. I can’t understand why some people have written bad reviews.

I was with them through their transition/upgrade period and service on all levels was poor. Today they are a good hosting company. I left and went with GoDaddy because I needed SSH (yes SSH, not SSL) which they didn't support. GoDaddy has turned out to be my worst nightmare. When you are #1 you no longer care about losing customers, there is another to fill the space promptly. Slow servers that time out, tech support that knows nothing and hype is GoDaddy IMO. I no loger need SSH so I will return to StartLogic to host my ecom site which has been down for over 18 hours at this writting. GoDaddy tech support placed a ticket for me which is sitting in a "Que." There is nothing I can do but wait, lose visitors, money and sleep!

I am happy with the service, after the initial start up problems from my part i get instant assistance on all the occassions and the help crew was able to resolve my mistakes and helped me to solve the problems i created. I am using my own web development software now and had no problem uploading it. I never fully get their web design program, or how its works. I find the site reliable and good value...

I started with Startlogic so I can't compare them to others. I've been using Startlogic for two years and I have 4 sites with them now. I've had few problems and when I have needed to contact them I was able to get my issues resolved. Only problem is that the last time I signed up a new plan they overcharged me and wouldn't refund the difference. I had the overcharge reversed by the credit card company but now I'm not sure if I want to contunie with them or go to another company.

Like many of the reviews, I've had lengthy waits both waiting on the phone and for technical support through e-mail. My original site took several weeks to get up because the wrong account info was given to me multiple times, and my site was down for 3 weeks after they screwed up the site registration renewal 1 year after signup. Other than that, their software is easy to use, and my sites been up for all but an hour otherwise... Although it was stated as scheduled downtime on their support site, they didn't give advance notice.

Been a customer for two years, and for the first year everything was great. Lately support has been non-existent, with the most frustrating tech support I have ever seen. On hold for 45 minutes then hung up on and chat support that disconnects before a solution is achieved. E-mail not replied to, or replied to with a form letter not pertaining to the issue. No billing notifications, and long telephone waits even for the billing department. They may have grown beyond their abilities to handle the volume, which makes any issue a deal killer.

For the last 6 months, wait times for customer service have been 30 min to over an hour. Their transition to the new platform has been a disaster. Both my accounts got corupted and I couldn't upload, then had to wait for hours to get technical service. Just call and see for yourself

1. FTP is extremely touchy. I get disconnects and timeouts all the time when uploading files. For instance, it took 15 minutes to upload a 45 byte file due to me being disconnected during the transfer. I've called tech support about this issue and all they did was send me a Windows troubleshooting page (Turn off firewall. Did this help? yes or no) which did nothing to help me. 2. I used to be able to call in for support and talk to somebody I could understand. Now I have to repeat myself multiple times and ask them to as well because they jumped on the "outsource to India" (or some other hard to understand accented country) bandwagon. I moved over to StartLogic because I was unhappy with the technical support turn around time of my last host. But honestly, that was much better than not getting my issues resolved at all.

I've been a customer since 2005. Up until that point I had no "serious" problems. Seven months ago, I began having some problems with my hosting service due to their "migration." Calls into their customer support had me on hold for more than 1.5 to 2 hours on more than one occasion, and then I had to hangup because I had other things to do. Their 24/7 Chat support line is worse than that. I was online FOUR HOURS waiting for a response. When I finally got one, they were less than friendly, and less than helpful. I'm talking about weeks of trying to contact them. The links I had to access my account moved, and no one bothered to notify me of that change ... nor that my password/username had changed. I can go on. But if for no other reason, I would not recommend them because of the POOR customer service.

I just signed up with StartLogic for a new site from which I serve pages to a computer program. I was having problems connecting with GoDaddy so I thought I would try StartLogic. At first I couldn't see the pages so I called tech support. I waited about 1 minute and they were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Problem solved in about 5 minutes by setting up the directory structure properly. Great job so far.

there is a lot of down time in Startlogic. not consistent, customer service you have to wait for a long time and sometime they have to transfer you to the different phone number then you have to wait again. I don't reg to go with them especially site for business.

These guys may be OK if you are not in business, but stay away if you're a pro. I have been unable to access one of my customer domains since they migrated it to a new platform, and get nothing but "hold time" trying to get support. One customer is so pissed she is about to drop me as her web solutions developer, and SL's response is "wait in line like everyone else." I was originally impressed, no so any longer.

Startlogic switched to a new web platform and it has been a real pain for those of us switching over to the new platform. There are some nice options but only until they get the bugs worked out will this be any good. Tech support is horrible right now, I know they are bogged down with calls. I;ve waited well over 1.5 hours each time via live chat. Even then I was disconnected once contact was made (several times) and the guy I worked didn't fix any of my issues, I figured it out on my own and I don't know hardly anything about this kind of thing. I'd wait a fewmore months before I signed on here. Prior to that I liked the site but a number of the extras were outdated. I guess you get what you pay for.

I am very happy with the hosting service for the first year until I renew my account, customer updated credit card info but billing department do not bother to check and terminated my account without re-confirm with the customer. Have called the billing department and the line hold for very long without anyone anwser, sents 5 tickets to the abuse,billing and renewal department after 4 days plus no reply from the first contact to the online support. But the online support are very friendly and willing to help, the only thing is they can't access some area and unable to help me much. I will say "Good Support from the online technical but poor in customer service"

I am very happy with the hosting service for the first year until I renew my account. As a customer I have updated credit card info 2 months before the account expiry. Startlogic do not verify the updated info and just terminated the account without re-confirm with me after account have expired. Have called the billing department and the line hold for very long without anyone anwser, sents few tickets to the abuse,billing and renewal department, the first ticket reply from abuse is "the account suspended due to the outstanding payment" and I requested to activate my account, they moved the ticket to renewal department, the other following few tickets no reply at all until to date. But the online support are very friendly and willing to help, the only thing is they can't access some important area so unable to help me much. I will say "Good Support from the online technical but poor in customer service"

Our website has been down at least 10 times in the past 30 days. They WILL NOT answer their phone when there is a server problem. Voice mail system not working correctly. Puts you on hold instantly, then hangs up after holding 10 minutes! These guys were great two years ago, but seem to be in a steady decline.

I opted to cancel my hosting service within the 30 day allotment. The wait time for customer service was 20 minutes with a promise that I would receive my cancellation via mail within 24 hours. Four days later I'm still waiting. Now I'm again waiting on the phone for their billing department, and so far it has been 20 minutes waiting. If you want REAL SERVICE then go elsewhere for your hosting services because it's not here.

Imagine going to a resteraunt sitting down and ordering a steak. the waiter brings your steak sets it down on the table with no fork or knife. The waiter has the silverware in their apron and they say: "what, you don't have your own? well i happen to be renting this fork and spoon if you like." Startlogic is a little worse because they will make you pay for the steak and take it back if you don;t have a fork and knife. it is a joke. i have had 4 accounts over the last 2 years for different projects and ventures. My experience has been less than perfect and i do not know why i even opened the last 2. oh yeah i remember. they deleted my account in a "un-scheduled" server upgrade" I guess i missed the email that advised me my web server was gong to be formatted? When i called they said i had to buy a new account. since i had no time and it was cheap i signed up. bad mistake because it has cost me hours . IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT WEB HOSTING> DO NOT BUY STARTLOGIC.

Startlogic will make the biggest mess of hosting your website and find an excuse as to why it is acceptable. When you do a search on my company today still you will see the results of their disaster come up in peoples bloggs, accusing my company of driving their traffic to my website. Actually, Startlogic moved these websites onto a new server and somehow they had redirected all the sites to point to my website. No apology was given and it was nightmare dealing with angry e-mails and phone calls on a Sunday. The wait time for technical support is at least 45 minutes and when you use the on-line support they merely direct you to call either the technical support or billing department. My website is now down for 3 days and everytime I call they tell me it is because they are "Transitioning". Again a reason why they are allowed to cause your e-commerce buisness to crash and burn. Stay away from Startlogic, they are terrible.

I've had no problems with start logic, up until my billing cycle had ended and my site was down. If you have problems with your site/hosting, you'll have to be very proactive about it. Their support center is very difficult to navigate and it's hard to find your records of payment (domain or hosting) in their site. Their 24/7 phone support is a waste of time. I spent on average 30 minutes on hold each time before I met with a support personnel (I had to call about 4 times, was waiting for ~30 minutes each time).

After reading great reviews of their site (probably posted by shills) and noting their excellent-sounding package, I signed for a 2 year deal one year ago. I would not go back. I just called today to try to save money by moving a domain name I have on another site. Sales picked up right away but couldn't help. Billing never picked up - about as bad as support. Service has been friendly if you can ever find it, but not always useful. Email replies are slow and way off-topic - useless. Chat is as slow a wait as phone the once or twice i tried and it worked. If you call sales, they pick up right away! A call to Support can take an hour to responce. Forget about doing business on a shared server of theirs! No way it ccould handle more than one connection at a time without huge latency.

I have used startlogic for a couple of years now and their service, support and reliability has gotten progressively worse. Their "live chat" service must be non functional as I have tried to use it on 3 occasions with no response. On one occasion I had it open for 3 hours with no response. I have 4 sites with them and have only been able to successfully transfer one of them to their new back end control panel. They have twice deleted my index page or modified my configuration preventing use of certain services on my site with out notifying me. Bottom line, Startlogic caused me to lose money. Horrid awful service, Startlogic is bad, poor, awful, painful and doesn't seem to care.

We use Startlogic for our company e-mail and hosting. When we got the service a year ago it was amazing, but as of recently our e-mail has become incredibly unreliable, and accessing our website seems to take longer and longer as time goes on. One odd thing I found was they don't allow lock permissions on your database users in MySQL, you have to call or e-mail them for it! God forbid you ever loose the user password for that user, you have to delete, recreate, and call them again. Every time I've had to call them I'm on hold for at least 40 minutes, and e-mail support takes days. Sometimes when I call support, after being on hold for a long time, I get disconnected, rinse, repeat. Ridiculous! I work as a developer who also does technical support for my company and if we had hold times like this we wouldn't have any customers! We will be shopping for a new host when our time is up here.

I have been using them for over 3 years now. They were great when I first signed up, but the service has been steadily going down the toilet. The 24/7 -365 support is a joke, unless the numbers mean how long you will wait on hold for someone to pick up. The 24/7 live chat would be better if I spoke Hindi or Chinese, so the person on the other end could understand my problems. Tonight, even they wouldn't respond. They don't respond to emails either. I was very pleased when I initally signed up, but my website has been slower and slower to respond and with the crummy "customer service" I think I can do better. I called billing (oh yeah, sales and billing will answer to take you money) to let them know not to automatically charge my account in January when my service is up. The chick on the phone didn't even ask me why I was cancelling, and was very rude on the phone. Reliability is very poor. Regular downtime of several hours. I live overseas, so phone support is to expensive or me. I rely on Email support, but reaction is very slow (days !) and often completely besides the question. Since transfer to the new servers i have to pay for the add-ons that are advertised as free.

The old adage you "get what you pay" best describes Startlogic. Low cost equals low quality. I have been a customer at Startlogic for three years. I was attracted by their low cost and good support. You could actually call their support department and get a warm body who was able to resolve your issue(s). It appears as it they have experienced tremendous growth, but have not invested in increasing their support staff. A call to their sales department has a wait time of no more than 2-3 minutes. But a call to their support department has delays over 1 hr - I actually waited because I had a critical outage. The technical expertise of the support team has also decreased. Their chat service is a complete waste of time and has delays in excess of 50 minutes. I have 5 domains hosted with them and I am canceling my contracts and l am am going to another hosting company. Please do NOT get tempted by their low cost, their service SUCKS!!! I rated it a 1 out of 5 because there is no "0"

I signed-up with StartLogic because they do both WP and Joomla and the price was good. Also, I thought their support would be good. BOY DID I MAKE A MISTAKE. Like other reviewers have mentioned, you cannot believe that their on-line 24/7 chat actually works. Give it a shot. Go to their website and see how long you'll wait. I've never actually chatted with anyone on it and have waited in excess of 1 hour per try. I tried calling support on the 800 number--never have gotten a tech. Oddly enough, it's easy to get a sales rep though. [No matter how polite you are, they're not as friendly if you have problems, BTW.] I tried using their support ticketing system, but it didn't work (after typing a detailed description of my issues). Oh yeah, I'm still waiting for a response from a support email I sent last week. I'm so disappointed. I just hope their 30 day refund works at this point. Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid StartLogic.

I'm a freelance web developer and have been for a number of years. In terms of support and features, this company is average, nothing stellar. But in terms of technology, reliability, and speed, this company is the bottom of the barrel. They USED to be good a couple years ago. I know because I used them to host my uncle's business 4 years ago. It used to be one of the better cheap hosting solutions, but now I would not recommend their service to anybody. I recently decided to move my site to a new host and thought I might revisit Startlogic since they (used to) work so well with my uncle. I just installed the default wordpress package and during the day my load times for a single 5k page were between 10-20 seconds (if the page bothered to load at all). Help desk said it's fast on their end, must be my machine. I asked a number of friends from around the world and they all agreed, super slow. So do yourself a favor and go with another more reliable host.

I have several domains at SL and also manage 9 others I originally set up with SL. All are on 2-year hosting contracts. In the beginning, I was impressed with their stats and reviews, but around Sept-Oct 07 they took a major dive in quality, service and support. Some of my sites went down for days and SL support would, when I could get a hold of someone, come back with a canned answer stating the site was hacked, thus suspended and they'd be happy to delete it so I could have it restored from a back-up. I asked, since they were aware of the "hack", to please give me the details so I could modify any insecure code, but they wouldn't. One site is all static html, so there's no way it could have been "hacked". In all cases, after trying several support people, eventually one would magically repair the problem, then tell me it was a server glitch and the site would be back online. As soon as these contracts are done, I'm out of there! Sooner if the sites go down again.

Tech support is unable to understand, never mind address unusual problems with Startlogic's mail server that prevent our POP3 email accounts from sending email outside our domain, nor could they understand that their catch-all email account does not work. (where do they get these guys?) Startlogic's SPAM filter is totally non-functional. StartLogic's is a BAD choice for business critical email.

Their customer service people, few can speak the English language and were incompetent when they did repond to problems. It took at least an hour to get someone who only was able to open a ticket. You can open a ticket on-line but the "support" contacts close tickets without understanding the problem not fixing it. Trust me..stay away from these people.

This server was good when I signed up, but has been a mess ever since they switched to their new V-Deck format. I am wondering if management changed, then, too. Everything went downhill after that. My site goes offline frequently for no apparent reason. It is nearly impossible to get anyone to answer the phones or to return emails for tech support. They have made billing errors (without notification). Their techs are unfamiliar with Mac formats...so if you are a Mac user you are out of luck. My recommendation is to find a better server.

Imagine rely your buisiness to a company that keeps your mail server and web page DOWN for 5 days in a row!! and not only once but 3 times. In the whole year we have been in average 10% down time ..that is 3 day every month without email and web page.. thats a lot of$$$ we lost.... There is no support at all, just someone that inform you that your problem is been investigated and will be solved in no more than 48 hrs.......we are migrating now

Very Poor Support, that is always me who does everything when my website is down if i dont want to wait for ages for their help. Big web space ? that sounds good, but you will have nerver reach to 200GB with tons of other limits that does not exist in the plan: maximum 50000 files is an example. The same problem with your database. Don't be surprised if your site is suddenly down and you don't know why.

I have had sl for over a year and my site crashed. To reload from the server they charge for and so far it has been 4 days and still no site. Support has hung up on me when I call to find out why the delay. After 4 days of trying to get them to reload my site. No help. I would not use them and am currently looking to move. They dont even respond when you submit a ticket and have no contact them area on their site.

I signed up for an account with start logic. immediately I had trouble logging in to my site via 2 different ftp applications. I contacted technical support and spent an hour on hold. after speaking with support they issued a ticket. after 48 hours they had not even acknowledged the ticket. then they said hey were working on it. almost 72 hours later and it is not fixed

I'm completely amazed that StartLogic has any positive reviews at all on any webmaster site. They must be paying for them. StartLogic is, hands down, the absolute worst hosting company I've been with in 9 years. Tech Support - horrible. Customer Service - does nothing but send you canned scripts. Reliability - there is none. I'm switching to another host asap & I don't even care that I've prepaid with SL. It's worth the loss to get away from them.

Despite former satisfaction with Startlogic, recent SERIOUS problems require writing this. Over Thanksgiving, possibly during upgrading procedures or maintenance???>, email service shut down. Having several email accounts elsewhere, I was unaware that my primary business account was not functioning for over w eek. When I finally (LONG wait to get through to somebody in India) got through they acknowledged the problem, said I'd eventually retrieve that lost mail, no idea when. Then I got email (from a non-Startlogic account) saying they were in the midst of transitioning sites and I needed to go re-set-up things. The answer to my problem? No, but I did manage to gain access to webmail to see the hundreds of emails stacking up there undownloadable! I tried to contact Startlogic on-line, via email, phone, but all avenues were "busy with other customers" for an hour-plus when I gave up. Finally got a tech who walked me through some things, assured me all was fixed. NOT!!

There's no follow through whatsoever. I called once to inquire about web design and they never even called me back. Same thing when I wanted to use them for internet marking...never got back to me with info so I spent money elsewhere. Each time I have to call about a tech problem, I have to hold a long time and then when I present the problem, they have rarely been able to answer my question...open a ticket and WAIT. This time they even closed my ticket without resolving the problem or calling me back - no surprise here. Online support? What's that? I'm definately looking elsewhere.

I have a StartLogic account, and their tech support is the worst I've ever experienced, next to HP. Both on the phone and online tech support. I was working on my webpage moments ago and now all of the sites they host (except their own) are offline. They are pretty cheap if you get an extended plan, but... you get what you pay for.

This web host is good only for blogs!! They claim to be good with multi-media, but they stink! and when you get tech support for help, if they can't dupe your problem, they just put you off by blaming irrelivant 3rd parties. You can also tell that their tech department doesn't actually know a lick about computers, they are just a glorified call center working from scripts. If you want to use them for a business site, DON'T!

We were customers for a couple years because my brilliant IT guy used them because they were "cheap and a good long term solution". He was right about one thing, they are cheap. cheap reliability cheap service cheap customer service did i say cheap reliability? the email was down every month, who knows how many emails we lost forever. Our website was down for 2 consecutive days recently, so we finally bucked up and bailed to find another ISP. Will never go back, would recommend them to no one, not even my enemies...that is just too rude.

Startlogic used to be a great host, but they have gone way down hill. Since they downgraded from Vdeck 2.0 (which used to work) to Vdeck 3.0 (which has more bugs than a Florida swamp) e-mail is very intermittent, site statistics ceased to work for me, and logging to my account is Firefox averse. I suppose I'm blocking some cookie or script, but I can't find it. Naked IE works. E-mailing tech support is a waste of electrons, not a real black hole but an incredible simulation. On line tech support is so slow you best bring your lunch and a book. Maybe two books. Or, depending upon where they route your call, spend your time listening to a language CD that teaches Urdu or Hindi. You may need it. Do not believe, "My very smart diagnostic system is telling me your web site is being cursed by Kali, The Destroyer, which is not being the problem of Startlogic, but resulting instead from your own bad karma."

In the last few months StartLogic has been migrating their accounts over to vDeck3. They forgot, however, to inform people how to login to the new vDeck-i.e. an actual URL to type into your browser. After a 30-min hold I finally get a tech guy, but he's clueless. Nice, but clueless. He can't answer any of my questions and has to escalate the "problem" to the next tier. 3 days later, I get the call from the next tier support and the guy just wants to argue with me and not actually give me the information necessary to login to the vDeck. Additionally, they kept the OLD vDeck open. So I didn't even know I was supposed to login to a new vDeck. I was working on the old one and had complete access--it just didn't do any good for updating my web site. It looked like it was doing something, but it wasn't. Come on Start Logic! A migration means you move someone over, then cut off access to the old. That's just common sense! Apparently, they have none over there! Definitely won't renew!

I'm not sure when it started where the downward spiral, especially in service (customer and technical), leads for StartLogic. I've been a customer of theirs for at least a couple years or more and had a great relationship with them. Now, I have no clue who I'm talking to (if I ever get them by email or LiveChat) or when they are going to act. What used to be within 24-hour turnaround in service is now getting to be 48 to 72 hours, in most cases. And, here lately, I not gotten the same service rep twice with all the trouble tickets I've sent in. Until their service improves, I cannont and won't recommend anyone use Startlogic. I'm normally a very calm, laid back person. But, when I have to attempt to deal with startlogic's service, my blood pressure goes through the roof. Proceed with caution.

This used to be a very good company with excellent customer service and excellent and extremely knowledgable tech support. ever since they moved to the new platform, their customer service has gone down the stream. our e-mails don't work. it takes 2 hours for someone to get on the online chat and another 2 hours for them to answer the phone and at the end they will tell u "the systems r down" and thei techis have no clue any more! DO NOT GO WITH STARTLOGIC!

After just over 3 weeks we have had a complete outage affecting web, FTP and POP3 services. This was casused by a reported DNS rearrangement. This past weekend the POP3 was brought down by a problem that appeared on its own with our MX record. Support via chat is difficult to obtain. If you can get a chat screen to answer, you are looking at 30-50 minutes before you can get anyone on the other end. Phone support is a predictable 50+ minutes wait. Email support is 1-2 days and so far has been useless. If you can manage to talk to someone, they can fix it. In summary, this supplier is unreliable and offers poor access to tech support.

I have been with StartLogic for almost a year with a VPS. When I first started with them I had service issues rigt out the gate and my first ticket took 3 weeks to resolve. Any time I have called there phone number I have been on hold for more than 30 minutes before getting to talk with a semi-human. When you get to speak with someone they don't have a clue and they say that we will have to check it out in the morning. Thats because they can't answer your questions. Don't give them any of your money you can get better service and support from other web hosting companies.

StartLogic sold me 300GB of space and 3000GB of monthly transfer for 4 dollars per month. From the get-go they were unresponsive to my requests for information about how to get my site started. They never sent an activation e-mail or told me how to access my new site. I went almost a month sending them several e-mails and CS tickets.
Finally I sent an e-mail asking them to cancel my account and refund my money immediately. CS Reps called me and informed me that all along they just needed to speak with me in person :

Their service has really gone downhill in the 2 years from there. My site is often offline and several times my databases have been inaccessible, making my site useless.
When I complained about this I received a form message asking if I wanted them to reset my password! They didn't even read my issue.

I used StartLogic for several years and they were great. However, they just "improved" their servicesd and switched their platforms to an absolute piece of crap. When are companies going to learn NOT TO MESS with a good thing? Constant "improvement" usually leads to frustrated customers, lousy service and companies going out of business.

Startlogic used to be a great hosting company, easy and simple to use & modify your site. But now they've become very complicated with their new cPanel and it's very hard to figure anything out. When you call support, you have to be on hold for at least an hour or longer and it often takes them over 2 hours to answer your support chat.

I have had an account on Startlogic for about 2 years. In fact I had just recently renewed with them for another two years. Their "vdeck" web tool was crude but worked - Until they just "upgraded" to vdeck 3.0. Then I could not edit my webpage under either the old or new vdeck programs - Neither worked! In frustration I began the process of moving my account to another host (godaddy.com). Guess what - Startlogic deliberately hides the website information or controls that you need to authorize the switch! "Live Support" - Don't make me laugh! Even when I got through (typical wait time of 45 minutes!) they promised to take care of the problem. Then they sent me an email asking "what is the name of your website." This was information I had gone over with the moron on the phone. I emailed back the info. Then I checked my "ticket status" and saw they moved it to "resolved" about the time they sent my email. But they did nothing at all! Beware!!!

I've been a customer of StartLogic's for 3 years and I have been terribly disappointed. The services they offer are not competitive with other Web Hosts out there. The load time on my website takes 10 seconds to fully load, and the upload rate is about 5kb/s. There has to be a better web hosting provider.

Do not use start logic! I had them for a good half year, about half way in the php just slowed down dramatically, not just for me but for every one else as well, when I tried to contact them they blamed it on me saying that it was because of my ISP. I so I got mad, I was like "Look, I have over 430 report of the site running slow from 340 different users" Yet they still denied it, and then my site got hacked and they wont help me get it back at all. I also wound like to point that that my site was down abort 15% of the time.

First of all you will have to wait forever to talk to anyone and when you get to reach someone you will wish you didn't have to talk to them. They will just write a ticket which you could have done yourself. They randomly overwrite your website with older versions with their current migration as well as repoint the DNS back and forth between new and old server. Then it will be weeks before anyone even considers solving the problem. You'll spend days just getting a canned response back from someone who did not read your e-mail. Then you have to resend telling them to READ your e-mail. I am surprised how high they rank in many reviews when most of the reviews I've read are negative. Just do a search on startlogic reviews.

Simply put - don't use StartLogic. They have ZERO tech support, horrible uptime stats, and FTP doesn't work at all. Subdomains are impossible to set up and the control panel they employ is pretty but lacks higher level functionality. Not to mention their poor accounting practices (double billing, failure to refund money, etc). Stay away!

They are a very bad host. They screwed up lots of websites when they transitioned them to a new platform in 2008. The old server just went down and they failed to transition the websites to the new server. Our website lost all its rankings in Google thanks to Startlogic. The tech support is very incompetent and keeps telling you fairytales instead of solving your problem. The last few months our website experienced at least 1 day downtime a month. Beware!

I normally do not write reviews about a company unless they exceed my expectations or their customer service/support levels are horrendous. However, my experiences with their service over the past 8 months has been a nightmare. The support is nonexistent and you are lucky if you get a reply and thats after contacting them numerous times. My site was down for 1 month and then only after I threatened to cancel did I receive a response. It wasn't quite the response I was expecting since they basically wanted to charge me to fix an issue with their servers. I do not understand how a company with this level of customer service/support is rated in the top 10 for web hosting. I have been in the IT business for over 6 years and during that time, I have never seen a company show such disdain towards their customers as StartLogic has shown in my time with them. For those considering this company for your hosting services based on pricing, please reconsider and look at the big picture.

I have been with them for over 2 years. Not once when I have had an issue (and there are ALWAYS issues with them), have they helped me in any way. Customer service is a joke. 50minutes on hold JUST to get a human voice. And even then, the Indian on the other end didn't understand what I was asking for. They do daily backups for you but if you want to go back to one of those backups they charge an arm and a leg. Ask for a supervisor? HA.. they take down your number, and the supervisor calls you back at 8 or 9pm at night, only to tell you they can't help you. I worked in IT for a company for over a year, I know how easy it SHOULD be to do their job. But they still can't seem to do it. I am finding a new provider and leaving them PROMPTLY! With me AND my customers.

When i was a new customer, i would be able to contact support quickly and i was very satisfied. Now they are DROPPING MY DATABASES and it takes, literally an hour or two to contact someone there. If you leave you data and business in their hands, you are taking a huge risk. What prompted me to write this review is the fact that I have been waiting to talk or IM a rep. concerning a DB they lost. As i'm going through the help section of their website... it disappears! No more www.startlogic.com!!! oh wait ok it's there now, but for how long? Their pricing is tempting, but if you fall victim, I can only wish you the best of luck and hope i'm not trusting your website.
