iPowerWeb Customer Reviews

Ipower is the worst.

Ipower is the worst company of any kind I've ever dealt with in any capacity, and I own a cell phone. Understand I've chosen these words very carefully. When I called to renew my domain and hosting, my domain had expired. My fault, 100%. Now, I was told specifically the domain was not in redemption with tucows, their registrar. Based on this information, I renewed, and was told the site would be back online in 12-24 hours. 2 days later the site still wasn't up. I called to ask why, they said the site was in redemption, and would cost me another 3x the amount I paid to get it back up. Unfortunately, after the renewal i had subsequently sent out resumes with my website's email address on them. If i had been told this information correctly to begin with, or minimally if i had been informed of the chance this could happen, i never would have done that, and I never would have renewed. I was directly mislead and misinformed into renewing, and ipower will do nothing to rectify any of it.

Don't use this company!

I have been with them for 5 years. In the past they have renewed my account and debited my bank without a renewal notice, causing big headaches. This year, they sent a notice but then debited my account a full 2 weeks before the scheduled date. The customer svc guy in another country refused to let me speak with a supervisor or manager. Same thing with the live web chat! I threatened to cancel my account and they still refused to help me or put me through to anyone higher up. Stick with US only based companies people! I will be from now on!

Worst Experience Ever!

I had an ipowerweb account back in 2003. The first two years were okay until they banned my account without reason. Took hours to talk to tech support. They agreed to put the site up one final time but said if the problem happen again I'd be banned for life. They never tell me what the issue was but I assume the site was hacked or spammed in some form. I did nothing wrong and was upset that they were treating me like I was some type of criminal. I decided to switch companies and that's when the frustration really settled in. Found out that the registrar was a chinese company that sold in bulk. It literally took me over a month to get the password in order to change the client transfer (kept getting the run around since they didnt use that registrar anymore). I now host with bluehost (6+ years) and have never been happier.

Worst experience ever

Twice this company failed to send us a renewal bill (with all of our contact info up to date and current) so we get to find out that a bill is due when our website and email disappears. Beyond the phone number and current multiple email address' they had on file, do you think they might try to contact us or send out a bill though the emails associated with the actual website that they are hosting? Not hese guys. When we try to switch to another provider they threaten us with having to deal with our website and email being down for several days to complete it. We ignorantly stayed with them only to be disconnected again. Stay far away - they cost my company thousands in administrative costs.

Beyond poor - don't use

I have used this organization to host my web site for a few years. Over that time they have gone from good to really poor. They have no warning when your email (in any folder) hits a limit - they simply bounce all emails and your email stops working.

Look somewhere else! This is SCAM!

My company has been hosting with ipower since 2000 and that's probably the biggest mistake! One time they deleted a database for my website just in a middle of my promotion campaign. Site was down for 24 hr! Thanks god I had a backup! I failed a complaint and no-one answered. There are a lot of stories I can write here, but they are a joke! Call center is probably in India. The most retarded thing ever! Last time I called, the guy couldn't get my account name for about 10 minutes. If you have a technical problem, they are not helping at all, they piss you of with their stupidity! I ordered paid support ($25) to fix their damn exchange server, they connected remotely, broke working setup took money and closed the ticket... DON'T GO WITH THEM! THEY ARE NON PROFESSIONAL MORONS! It's going to take a lot to move all my assets, but I'm leaving this piece of joke company...

Lowest common denominator hosting

Tech support treats professional sysadmins (me) like children, no useful information or expertise provided. Definitely the least common denominator in hosting. My PHP apps ran like molasses, they are obviously oversubscribed or have draconian limitations on CPU/Memory usage. SimpleScripts is the only nice feature, which is the service they use for rapidly deploying applications like WordPress, Drupal, Gallery, etc. No SSH or any other kind of shell account/access. Considering that you can get a VPS for $20/month with dedicated resources, I switched to Linode.

4 days waiting for an unresolved issue with i power web

DON´T USE IPOWER WEB! NOT WORTHY THE FRUSTRATIONS THEY WILL CAUSE TO YOU! Since December 22nd 2010 I cannot download the e-mails hosted with i power web. In Dec 23rd both of my sites were down. It is Dec 26th and still cannot download my e-mails. The staff at live chat always give the same automatic response saying that "in a couple of hours the issue will be resolved". Well, big lies! My issue started 72 hours ago and nothing have been resolved. Don´t deal with them! You will have continuous frustrations. It is better to move to a more reliable and professionally run company. I power web is definitively NOT the company to deal with.

The worst web host ever

This is the worst web host one could possibly sign up for. Their tech support is incapabe of giving sound advice. After 5 years of hosting my business with them, i decided to transfer the domain name to another company and even that process is difficult for them to facilitate. The couldn't give me the email of the authorization code in a timely manner, after i called them 4 times. I do not recommend them.
