Web Hosting Reviews, Ratings and Awards since 2004!
It's cheap yes though it's not true that the price will not rise at the end of the contract as someone wrote here, when signed I paid 3.95/mo but for renewal they asked 4.56/mo (same plan same duration). The technical support is ok, not awesome but ok, will help you for sure but it will take some time and lots of requests to have it fully done. The features are excellent. Dedicated IP is a must, SEO rating of such site on dedicated IP will jump to the sky. Kudos to IX for the features. And now the huge problem: frequent downtimes, too frequent to tell the truth. It's almost every day my site is down. I'm really thinkin' about moving elsewhere. Also the AdWords coupon is valid only for US and Canada customers and you don't know this till the time you need to redeem it because the limitation isn't stated anywhere(?). What to say at the end? It's a good hosting if only they'd fix the uptime ratio. With that much downtimes I really cannot recommend it, at 4.56 there are better alternatives

Used them for over the last 5 years. Have seen their services from from good to bad and recently to worst possible. Unexplained downtimes of 10-20 minutes are common multiple time each day. Use them only if you can live with that!

Our site was blocked and after talking to customer services... nothing happened. Frustrating... 1. No prior notification 2. Can not monitor the cpu usage which they say is the culprit 3. Customer service is not giving much service

As a web designer for several nonprofits, price for small sites is very important. This company does NOT raise rates at the end of the contract term. With other companies, I tend to need to move the sites to get away from huge increases. That's a pain, but necessary to keep costs down. The companies I've moved to IX have not had to leave. And their support has been excellent.

Do not be fooled by the low price and high average ratings. Anyone with any background setting up web sites and dealing with host providers knows...one of the worst things you may have to deal with is eastern European tech support!! I am not saying these are bad people, but you can go back and forth for hours and it is like talking to a frikin wall and nothing every gets solved!! I switched to IX Web hosting from HostGator, and let me tell you...after 1-week with IX Web-hosting, I not only ran, but I SPRINTED back to Hostgator!! There is no substitute for good tech support that gets it right the first time!! What was my big issue with them??? With unlimited domains, I could never get more then 4 domains actively up and running. Two with static IPs and two with shared IPs. I was supposed to have unlimited domains with shared IPs!! They never solved this issue for me! Now I am fighting them for a refund! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

The truth is they have the best customer service from my experience that is until they want more money from you. What happened? Well after 3 years with them and finally getting my site to page one of Google, they decided with the traffic I was getting I must be making some money so they tried to extort some from me by shutting down my website, with the excuse that i was using too much CPU usage.[remember you can get unlimited band-with and unlimited disk space- but cpu usage is limited to how many people they put on one server, which is entirely up to them]They suggested I reduce my cpu usage and when i cut my usage in half they still weren't satisfied. Bare in mind that I didn't make any changes to my website for six months prior to this over-usage.Then they they said that maybe i should upgrade account to allow for more usage. I refused and dumped them. They are extortionists. I think the only way to by your own server.

They can just decide that your website causes a database server overload. They will give you a few random queries to justify their decision but fail to add any statistics whatsoever that proof they are right. As somebody else mentioned, no way at all to look at anything like cpu usage, hdd, load ... These guys have invented their own relgion it seems ... We are right you are wrong ... And, as someone else mentioned, I also have over 20 years of experience with OS like OS/390 (the real old days), Unix, Linux, Windows and databases like MySQL and Oracle. Probably more than all of them put together.

It takes so long to get support from IX, that I sometimes wonder how many people that have working with them. If your site has a bulletin board, don't use IX. One error that causes an overload, and your site is locked, with no hope of assistance from IX. I am leaving them, and would warn everyone to be very carful before considering using the.

Within the last month IX Webhosting hanged my nameservers without warning knocking 5 websites offline. Feb 4, 2012, down again, reps can't tell you when things will get going again, no refunds or compensation, but lots of apologies If you want apologies, price increases and poor service, then IX Webhosting is for you!

There service is 24/7 but not all that competent consistently. Not able to completely figure out 403 errors. No SSH console access to figure out myself. Oh and did I mention there servers are really slow. Really slow. And I triple dog dare your to use the EasyApps. I just dare you. I do IT consulting for a living, so I have some authority in the matter, and I cant recommend. Chris
