{"id":2185,"date":"2011-09-07T05:00:44","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T09:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/?p=2185"},"modified":"2021-10-19T06:48:15","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T10:48:15","slug":"php-based-content-management-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/php-based-content-management-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"An Overview of PHP-Based Content Management Systems Beyond WordPress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WordPress is far and away the most popular <a href=\"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/cms-builder-%e2%80%93-constructing-your-own-content-management-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">content management system<\/a> (CMS) on the web.\u00a0 It&#8217;s for good reason, but like anyone holding the claim of first place, it still has its critics.\u00a0 If you are working with PHP and want a good content management system for your site, you have a gaggle of options.\u00a0 We&#8217;re going to run down a few of them here, and go over their advantages and disadvantages.<\/p>\n<h3>Geeklog<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geeklog.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.geeklog.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the most popular of the WordPress alternatives, Geeklog is a feature-full CMS that can use mySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL server for its databases.\u00a0 It includes among its features content syndication, forums, calendars, polls multi-language support and mass user deletion.\u00a0 If you need help, it actually uses a wiki for its official documentation.\u00a0 Popular sites Groklaw and Mac OS X Hints have used it for years.<\/p>\n<h3>concrete5<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.concretecms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.concrete5.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Open-source CMS concrete5 has attracted attention for its ease of use.\u00a0 Not only is there easy editing of individual pages without having to go through an administrative interface of some kind, but even images can be edited from directly within its interface.\u00a0 It includes among its features search engine optimization, a tracker to check for latest software revisions, and a page history so that you can revert to any previous version of any page on your site.\u00a0 It&#8217;s among the newer CMSs so 3<sup>rd<\/sup> party content and themes are still catching up, but it appears that this is happening quickly.<\/p>\n<h3>Drupal<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.drupal.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.drupal.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drupal might be the largest and most far-reaching CMS outside of WordPress.
