{"id":2485,"date":"2011-09-25T09:53:33","date_gmt":"2011-09-25T13:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/?p=2485"},"modified":"2021-10-19T06:48:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T10:48:20","slug":"search-engine-optimization-tips-for-bing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/search-engine-optimization-tips-for-bing\/","title":{"rendered":"Search Engine Optimization tips for Bing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know that there are other search engines beside Google, but many do not consider this within their <a href=\"https:\/\/webhostinggeeks.com\/blog\/seo-sem-difference\/\">SEO<\/a> initiates.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a hassle to try to make your page more search-engine friendly for more than one search engine, and besides, how many people even search outside of Google?\u00a0 What if I told you that that answer was as high as 30% of all searches?\u00a0 After all, did you really think that there was an IT market that Microsoft couldn&#8217;t muscle its way into?<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWith rare exceptions, what helps you with one search engine will help you with another.\u00a0 Very little will get you forcibly pushed down the listings.\u00a0 This means that whatever you do with Bing should also help you at least a bit with Google and all other search engines.\u00a0 So since you don&#8217;t have anything to lose by doing so, let&#8217;s look at some of the most commonly offered tips for making sure your site gets well Binged.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pay it forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/?gws_rd=ssl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a> also places some value on having relevant links out, but it appears from most metrics that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com:443\/?toHttps=1&amp;redig=9CC19D4960B04C72893E39E993CD1DB4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bing<\/a> scores this even higher.\u00a0 As always don&#8217;t overdo it.\u00a0 Search engine programmers are well aware of how much you want to game their systems.\u00a0 Keep it well populated, but not overcrowded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Say anything<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bing also gives more attention to pages with a significant amount of text.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll want at least 300 words of original text on your page.\u00a0 Keep it relevant, and keep the keyword stuffing to a dull roar: once or twice per 300 word block is the most common recommendation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title your pages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once, the title of your page was one of the more important page rank considerations.\u00a0 Other search engines seem to have dropped that.\u00a0 Bing is bringing it back, so make sure you put your most relevant keywords in there.\u00a0 Again, though, don&#8217;t overdo it: one site recommends no more than 65 characters for this field.\u00a0 This is a one-line-per-page fix that could make a huge difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Structure your site well<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bing puts more emphasis on site architecture than other web search engines.\u00a0 Some ways to take advantage of this include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make your site \u201ccrawlable\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Ensure that your site is easy to navigate.\u00a0 You can use a robots.txt file to help guide Bing along.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Invest in a sitemap<\/strong> \u2013 A single page that maps out your entire web site is a good, comprehensive way to make sure your site is fully indexed.\u00a0 For that matter, make it, and then go right to Bing and submit it there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep it text-based<\/strong> \u2013 Have as much of the information you want Bing to find in the form of text.
