    Poor support & service: ok until things go wrong

    I've lost count of the number of times HostGator has failed me. When things don't go right their tech support doesn't listen to your request and then does a half-assed job of fixing the issue. I have a broken database on one site due to a faulty migration that I paid them for, I have a faulty SSL installation on another site that I contacted two different support agents to correct with no help. Instead I had to pay a web developer to help with the issue and their diagnosis? Hostgator's fault. Third attempt at support and they still haven't responded in more than a day, meanwhile my site is losing traffic and revenue. Their live chat option has 30+ minute wait time on average, and the people I've dealt with have not helped the problem. Yesterday one wanted me to install a WP plugin rather than write a 301 redirect in the .htaccess file for me. I've now started the process of leaving them for another hosting agency and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Don't waste your money here.
