September 05, 2018First of all, most webhosts provide a free SSL option on shared hosting. Site5 charges $40 for it in addition to installation fees. So I got my client an external free SSL and went to install it. No option to install ourseves via cPanel. Tried to submit a ticket - ticket page routes one to unhelpful knowledgebase and live chat. I tried live chat 5 different times on different browsers, and it never worked. So I used the email option to contact them, and got a reply that the email had not been delivered because it’s no longer creating automatic tickets. So I went to Twitter, where they tell you to DM them. The DM option doesn’t work. This is the worst customer service experience I’ve ever seen from a webhost, worse than GoDaddy. I’ve spent 3 hours on behalf of a client trying to work with Site5 to get a SSL certificate which should be free installed. The issue is still not resolved, because we can’t reach anyone to help. Do not use them.

August 29, 2018Downtime for over 1 hour, live chat is congested, ticket support is non-existent - this is the last straw for me. I am leaving Site5 and moving elsewhere. I liked the price and I really didn't want to have to migrate elsewhere, but I have no choice now. I have been with Site5 since January 2014 and that is surely considered a long-term customer. Since their management change to EIG, Site5 has gone so far downhill that I don't think they even know what they're doing. Support has heavily decreased in efficiency and speed, and their servers are going down a lot more frequently. The hosting is really good when it wants to be (especially for cheap, 'unmetered' hosting) and it's usually very good when you don't need to contact support. But I don't ask much of Site5 - my requests are as simple as requesting CSR generations and having IPs/ports whitelisted (which now isn't allowed due to 'security issues', even though before I was allowed to request this which I can prove in previous tickets). If you want a cheap 'unmetered' web host but don't plan to ask for support, go for them - they're really not bad for the price. But it's an awful shame that they had to sell-out to these EIG people as all I hear is nothing but bad things about them, and it's a shame that now it's recently had an effect on me and my site.

The only reason I was with site5 was that they bought BlueFur (who were excellent). I continued with site5 but it is no-where near the service and quality of BlueFur. And worst of all when I purchased 2 new domains they added an "ID protection" charge without informing me at the point of purchase (not even sure this is legal). So what I thought were two $12 domains I later found out in the email were now $28 domains (for one year)! The amount of effort I had to go through with chat to get them to refund me was unbelievable (4 chat sessions over 10 days).

April 20, 2018We have been using IXweb for many years with pretty decent support and uptime. However, over the past year or so, their support and downtime and problems began getting horrible, as apparently all companies that EIG buys out have happen to them. Last week, all of our websites became inaccessible. Upon checking, it turned out that IXweb had sold our account to Site5 (or in their terms, transferred to a sister company). That started the nightmare. ALL of our SSL certs were lost and would not be compensated, so we have to buy brand new ones. ALL of our email accounts are still dead. None will accept any emails sent from every domain that I have tried. All get a bounced notification. ALL of our websites were dead until we went in to every single one and changed the DNS. Phone support is now non-existent. This probably because this is an Indian company with no one who speaks English. All support now either has to go through a LiveChat (which takes roughly 2-3 minutes for a reply to any question or comment on it), or via a ticket system with the same results but hours/days instead of minutes. I would recommend Site5 and the whole EIG crud group slightly higher than being bitten by a rabid wolverine, and slightly below being stung by a swarm of African Killer Bees. That sweet spot right in the middle of the two.

April 04, 2018Everything has been transferred to another hosting server, and to siteground, and since has been working fine. Least to say, site5 is a horrible hosting site. It took siteground less than 24 hours to fix what site5 tried to fix within 6 days. I had been using IXWebhosting for over 15 years, and everything was working fine, until IX had to close down. I was informed that IX would transfer all our sites to site5, but this is not by choice. Five of our sites took over 5 days to remedy to find out from both helpdesk ticket agents, and live chat individuals, that they were not able to fix the problem, until at day 6, I decided, enough is enough, I will change all my business to siteground. The live chat were not able to fix the nameservers, and their client login, would not allow you to change your own nameservers, until you contacted them to unlock your accounts. We were out of business (literally) for 6 days until someone within their 'senior technicians' were able to fix the problem, which was because after the migration, the .htaccess was incorrectly pointed. It should not take any company over 72 hours to fix this problem, least to mention over 6 days. We are entirely not happy with site5, and have since changed our business to SiteGround, and perhaps you should also consider this when looking for a hosting client. Also, because they do not have a refund policy, I am now stuck with over $300 worth of money with site5, which means that I would need to at least have all my domains renewed with them, even if I were not to use their hosting servers, because they would not give me a refund due to this was being transferred by IX Webhosting.

February 14, 2018Site5 is the most defective, most amateur and most problematic host I've ever used. I run several companies with websites hosted by Site5 - HUGE mistake - MASSIVE! emails sent to clients and sent to me by clients frequently fail to arrive - ever! I've had to run a business GMAIL account in parallel because without a back up email service, there is sometimes no way my business can communicate with clients at all. Having bouncing emails provides such a poor impression to existing and prospective clients and trying to run a business with a GMAIL account sends out completely the wrong message. Time and time again I'm making support requests, often with little result. Problems recur again and again. I went back to site5 over and over and tried to get my account closed and refunded but they refuse, insisting on making me pay for a whole two years of defective hosting with no way out. Great shame they're not based in Europe because EU laws prevent second rate companies like Site5 from conning their customers with sub-standard services that don't do what they're meant to. Word of warning to anyone in business considering Site5 - they may be a bit cheaper but you'll pay and pay again in downtime, lost business and damage to your reputation. Choose a professional web host and don't waste time with these cowboys.

December 20, 2017Ever since Site5 was sold to hostgator, things have been down hill. I've now had my sites suspended multiple times due to malware. I've gone through with a fine tooth comb and locked things down as much as possible, but no matter what I do, permissions revert back to 777 from 644 and many of hte php files are corrupted with injected scripts. The only thing support will do is tell me to remove the offending files before they will move forward, which then is a restoral, causing loss of time and data. They constantly say the php injection vulnerabilities present on their servers do not exist, but evidence contradicts that. They blame the items I install, which are right from THEIR offerings (wordpress, etc). Even had one of their reps tell me to edit the .htaccess and block ALL except MY IP address! Whats teh point of having a webserver then?!

September 29, 2017I've been with Site5 for about 8 years. They were absolutely the best -- their support people were nothing short of GREAT. I have a reseller account with them and about 10 clients with accounts there on my recommendation. Then they were sold and it's been horrible ever since. While support has improved *slightly* there are more server problems and good luck getting things fixed. In the past two weeks two different servers have stopped the ability to add a subdomain. It's taken 2-3 days to fix it even though they keep saying they're on it. Seriously? STAY AWAY! I'm at this site because I'm shopping for new hosting.

September 27, 2017We had been hosting with Site 5 for 2 years. Both of our websites randomly went down in August 2017 with a 403 error as the only clue as to why they went down. When we tried to get support, Site 5 had no records of ever hosting our sites! Based on backstage, we are still actively paying for the Sucuri Malware Scanner for both these sites, but the hosting services have DISAPPEARED from our account with no record we ever signed up for them!!! ALL OUR FILES ARE LOST! The support person in India said a "senior admin" must look at this issue and we have not been able to recover anything thus far. STAY AWAY!!!

June 22, 2017I have been a customer of Site 5 for 10 years, and until 2 years ago they were excellent, but since then they have become one of the worst companies I have dealt with. Most recently they have taken down all of my websites, acknoledged that they have made a mistake, told me they were doing everything "humanly posible" to restore my sites, and yet every time I chase this, I have to remind them of everything that has happened before they say they will get it fixed. Then nothing happens and I have to chase again. Currently websites have been down a week and there's no sign of them being restored. AVOID!AVOID!AVOID!AVOID!

I have been a customer of site5 since 2013 It was the best one out there, no doubts about that, last year it became a disaster. I run into uptime issues, DNS issues, and more. I keep them until last week. Last month my sites were down for almost 10 days, and they escalated the issue to the senior of the senior of the senior, and nobody was able to fix it. I had the shared hosting plan, so all my sites were down, and it was their fault, and then they blame one of my plugins, and they could't even respond which one it was. I used a service that tracked uptime for one of my websites also a couple of months ago, and it was horrible, I would get emails all the time with "your site is down", wtf? 99.9% uptome right? And the front line support, man, they used to respond VERY fast, and they used to be good techincal people, now they take forever to respond, they don't seem to know what a domain is, they couldn't fix a DNS record if they life depended on it. So basically, I hired a2hosting, it's too soon to tell, but they already have me free SSL for all my websites, which is amazing, and they have a more updated PHP version than site5, so I'm not running into problems with woocommerce and other scripts as I used to. Bottom line: Don't hire Site5

March 16, 2017Where has everyone gone? communication is zero when you have a problem. You end up on a 30 minute chat session with a person who seems more like a bot (limited English and pre-set response choices?). 10 sites have been down for 2 days because someone on their end deleted our zone records and there's no response to the ticket. 10 different chats have ended the same way "you'll have to wait until the ticket is resolved". No other way to contact them. If you like feeling frustrated and powerless, this is the host for you.

March 10, 2017I have been a Site5 customer for 10 years. First as a private user and later for some services of my company. Since a year ago the service of Site5 has been plummeted: the support service is unfortunate: they delay in answering and most of the time without providing real solutions. In fact, when they have server drop-down problems they do not respond or, at best, simply apologize. Recently our server was down for a week. They made a migration with a notice of only a few hours. In addition, they have refused to reimburse the amounts collected. It gives the circumstance that they charge the service 5 days before giving it. Delirious. According to their contract conditions they can do it. But I will not continue with this company any more. A nightmare.

March 06, 2017Site5 was the best hosting company. I had a reseller plan with them for 14 years and never ever even looked around for other providers, plans or price because their service was simply flawless and their support was awesome. Then last year EIG bought them out and boy the service and support have both gone down the drain in to the depth of gutters. An average support ticket answer time is 8 days. Yes you read it right, its 8 days and you can confirm that with their online chat. Online chat is only there to tell you that they cannot provide any ETA on your support request or why your site is not longer working of your backup restore request or pretty much anything. They are only there to say, we don't know anything and the support queue is very long. After 14 years I finally had to migrate out of site5. Emails were not getting delivered and I lost 4 customers because of that. To the old owner... you suck for selling it out! Please open a new hosting business and share the name

February 27, 2017I have been hosting with Site5 for several years as a white label reseller. Their tier 2 support folks are great. Unfortunately, recently, the company has been sold. I have had several outages since then, mostly because they do a poor job of monitoring the nefarious customers they have on their servers. Other outages have been that they switched their billing and seem to be unable to make my hosting bill to my CC rather than a PayPal account. I have had enough as of Feb 2017 and am moving. It will be a pain, but calls from customers with email or hosting issues is also a pain.

We've have a multisite with dozens of sites hosted with them plus we've recommended Site5 to our clients for years. No more. Whatever change they went through took this company to the dumpster. Just ONE example: we've had a SIMPLE ticket in for going on three weeks and their overseas contractor (this is a change, and while overseas contractors aren't necessarily bad, these are either handicapped by working for this company or poorly trained) says he can't escalate with NO EXPLANATION. The unprofessionalism is astounding. Be warned. Do NOT use this company.

The worst hosting company I have ever seen - No customer Support
They have gone so far as to eliminate the ability to submit a ticket. and their CHAT, well they never come online. I sent out a tweet and they asked me to do a DM, No Response. Renewed our SSL certificate with them and they have not applied it in over 24 hours. It takes me about 30 minutes to buy and install a certificate on other sites. I have recommended to my client we move hosting and domain registration services ASAP.
