June 07, 2019This without any doubt the worst company for anything regarding domains, made the mistake of falling for a cheap offer they made and forgot to review them online before i did. I would have spent more money to buy the domain with another company than have to deal with the arrogance and stupidity of dealing with 1and1.com, they are so bad at everything they do, they had to change their name to hide all the BAD customer reviews, but they are still the same crap useless company they were before NOTHING has changed. Worst company EVER. Don't make the mistake of fall for their cheap rubbish deals, their customer service sucks!

April 19, 2019I have been using 1&1 Ionos for 6 months now and have only praise for their service. My uptime has been 100%, I have called their customer service telephone number on two occasions and my calls have been answered immediately, without waiting. Additionally, they have resolved both of my issues immediately (as a web developer, my issues tend to be technical ones relating to blocked ports or resource usage, and I have found their staff to be knowledgeable and polite).. Clearly, ,some of the other people who are writing reviews know nothing about buying hosting as the prices 1&1 Ionos are charging are so low, they even beat most 'low end box' providers. For the prices they charge, you would be lucky to find a hosting company that even has a support telephone number - most other cheap providers take 24 hours to resolve proper issues, and some (including even OVH who I have also used) don't even bother to answer these tickets at all. What they do offer is superb hardware infrastructure, up-to-date operating software images, and a lot of add-0ns I was not expecting (for example, backup and business software options).. So keep up what you're doing, 1&1!

February 18, 2019A year ago I had the misfortune of registering my domain with 1 and 1. They approved the transaction and registered my domain. After some issues with the site I set up hosting elsewhere. 1 and 1 didn't actually process my payment for a month and didn't send a notification or call. I logged in to find the issue and updated my card again carefully, the same card i use all the time. They couldn't accept a manual payment and they sent the issue to collections. A year later, I have spent hours on the phone with them to try and get my domain renewed. they removed it from the admin panel so i couldn't renew it. each time i call the same number and get different security protocols or none at all. I get a different answer half the time if the line doesn't get suddenly disconnected. now they insist that I pay thru paypal and can't process my order for 2-3 business days. That means my site will be down all of that time. these guys have more issues than I have ever encountered with a single business by far.

January 18, 2019I took out some "cheap" hosting with 1&1 for a personal project and like many others in the reviews found myself paying vastly marked up prices for services I did NOT want. Their customer support is appalling, they refused to refund the money they had taken and when I cancelled my payments they sent a debt collection agency after me.

January 17, 2019This used to be a fantastic company. Since there rebranding they have gone down hill fast. They no longer have any interest in customer service. I placed an order earlier today after some time waiting I called to see what was going on. First I spoke with Mylene, who told me I was not entitled to any sort of customer service till 1&1 generated a "Customer Number", after explaining that I had been charged already, There fore i was a "customer" she insisted that by there policy I wasnt till THEY decided I was. After calling the "Sales" department, I was transferred to a "Micheal" who spent over 5 mins silent, I wasnt on hold I, he was just silent (Now I work in customer service, most companies have a rule that there can be no more than 10 seconds of dead air) When I finally asked for a refund, he acted like he was doing ME a favor by even looking in to the account. Again when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was refused that request.

January 04, 20191and1 hosting provided little capability (no content management, outdated templates, and no database support) for a decent amount of money. For a non-profit social club, it was hard to justify the cost for the capability 1and1 provided. When we tried to transfer the domain, they took every second of time they could to transfer the domain that delayed the launch of our new site. Every time I called customer service they gave conflicting information and a manager was never available. I do not recommend 1and1 for anyone who needs assistance building or maintaining a site beyond basic HTML pages.

October 29, 2018Can I rate lower than a one star? To make a long story short, this company wrecked my website. Their backup service went down and when called for support the agent went into my site after they realized that their service was down and pulled an old file I had on the server and reinstated that as the website backup. I canceled the service and then they renewed my service on their own and sent me to collections for a new year of hosting. When I called to tell them I'm not renewing. They told me I can't just cancel. They felt that I owed them the money. I asked to speak to a manager they put me on hold indefinitely. Avoid working with these scam artists

September 26, 2018For the past 18 months their SMTP servers have been blacklisted on and off. That means much of mail email gets returned and I have to use my gmail address not my business address. If you want a domain with email, don't use 1and1.

September 24, 2018If I could give negative stars I would. I deactivated my autorenewal and cancelled my domain. They still took money from my account anyway and bounced my bank account. And then when I called, after keeping me on hold a stupid length of time, they ARGUED with me over whether or not I deactivated my autorenewal. In the end, I MIGHT get my money back but they certainly will not pay for the mistake of overdrawing my bank account by taking a fee they were NOT authorized to take. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT sign up with these people. They are a rip-off.

September 21, 2018I've used 1and1 since 2006. In the beginning it seemed reliable and worked well with my software. About a year ago my websites and blogs crashed and I had to redesign the entire site. I was having over 1000 hits a week on the site and lost all of them, Technical support was not helpful. I couldn't resolve anything online and Phone conversations were long and didn't solve my problems. Avoid these these guys.

September 20, 2018suggest, never do hosting with 1and1.. In need of help on server side, after little communication they will just hang your phone and left you with problem and you cannot do anything. My website had outofmemoryexception. I called them, they didn't sort out my memory limit instead hang my phone. Go for another hosting. Don't even think about 1and1 hosting.

September 16, 2018DONT use 1and1 domain service. Once you registered, 1and1 will send you an email request for email and id confirmation but 1and1 email was being disabled by gmail because it contains content that's typically used to steal personal information. Gmail disabled 1and1 completely and you wont let you respond even if you wanted to. 1and1 then gives you 14 days to respond to their email otherwise they will disable your account. I requested for the questions to be sent via text message to my email but they refused and gave me their phone numbers which was not contactable from Australia. It has been extremely stressful to deal with them and they have bad customer services. I finally made another payment to get my domain transferred to another provider but it could takes 2 months for the domain to be released by 1and1. 1and1 is NOT reliable. Stay away from them. Or you will learn a valuable lesson like me.

September 12, 2018To activate your domain & hosting they want your driving license and passport. This is truly terrifying, especially since all I wanted to do was host a wordpress blog on the importance of freedom of speech (otherwise a society is too afraid to tell the truth which has disastrous consequences for civilization as a whole). The fact they want to put you on some Stalinist database should send shivers down anyone's spine, a hosting provider should give you confidence and assurances to protect your freedom and anonymity online. Pros: They refunded quickly. INGSOC!

September 11, 2018I constantly struggle with 1and1, technically they are a zero, their own server and site keeps shutting down and I experience issues with my domain and website all the time! As for their customer service its terrible! 10 out of 10 times they offer no solution to your problems, when you request call back they often do not call you at all and when they do the call quality is awful you can hardly understand what they are saying and i have the feeling that the technical support have no basic understanding about IT, webhosting etc. Recently, someone stole my 1and1 account details and they set up 2 additional account using my details and my payment info through paypal so I got numerous unathorised payment coming from my bank account. When I contacted them they told me that due to security reasons they cannot disclose who stole my details and who keeps stealing my money using 1and1 services. I cannot believe that a company like this still exist today!!

August 14, 2018I own my domains. I can take them where I want. In fact thinking to not renew some of them. BUT, why would I want to pay you that amount? I wouldn't. I will go elsewhere, or just hang on to my domains. Thanks all the same! But no! The above is what I wrote to them - to me, what I wrote - says Hell no - I do not want this. According to 1 & 1, it actually says - YES, sure I want to renew. Why? They say because I did not use the single word - cancel; thus, I want a contract with them. I signed up; and was excited. BUT the software for the web page kept hanging up. So, I never went back, when the software wouldn't work. In fact - I thought, oh well - live and learn, BUT won't continue with them. Then out of the blue, I get an invoice, not a renewal notice, an actual invoice. Then they sent a second invoice. This is what I replied to them. They have a collection agency after me, to get money. In other words, they are forcing me to renew a contract, or they will come after me for money! Black mailed into a contract! That makes for good sales!!!
