Yet, our user reviews have been quite mixed lately so if you decide to sign with them, be sure to let us know how things actually pan out!
Show full textWebHostingPad In-depth Review
When it comes to shared hosting, there seem to be too more offerings out there supporting many thousands of additional services, all adding up to one maddeningly complex decision when it comes down to actually signing an host for your new website. However, if you’ve done much research at all into the industry, you’ve likely seen a few choice names appearing again and again in the top ten lists. We’ve already looked at two of these heavy-hitters in the last few months, and now that we’re done performing an in-depth look at HostGator and InMotion Hosting, we feel it’s time to move onto yet another substantial hosting provider: WebHostingPad. The reviews of WebHostingPad are mixed, but no matter how you slice it, the company’s plans are cheap, making them easily worth considering. But without further ado, skip on down below the break to learn more about the web host, their plans, and the services they offer.
Who is WebHostingPad?
As a web hosting provider, WebHostingPad (http://www.webhostingpad.com) was founded almost a decade ago in 2005. From the very outset, they have had one goal, and one goal only: To provide quality web hosting so cheap that absolutely anyone and everyone can enjoy their own, private space on the Internet. Since their inception, the company has been on a veritable warpath, carving out a niche for themselves and garnering the attention of several key awards. Their customer service in particular has been lauded as one of the best in the industry, as have their ultra-low shared hosting plans. To date, the company hosts more than 150,000 domains, and claims a 99.99% guaranteed uptime. The company is also very well known for its lack of any sort of hidden fees, as well as its dedication to the latest hardware and software. All of their server units come with name-brand security, offering superior performance.
However, all of this could very well be a sales pitch from the company. What do they really look like once the bonnet’s been cracked open? To find out, keep reading, Solider. We’ll be taking a look at their shared hosting plans first, before diving into the thick and sticky of their extended plans.
Shared Hosting with WebHostingPad
The Price
Before we do anything else, we feel we absolutely have to mention the lowest price WebHostingPad currently offers for its shared hosting services. Plans with the host bottom out at an unbelievable $1.99 a month, a full two or three times less expensive than some of the other, industry leading hosting companies. This price is only offered as a discount with a full five year service agreement, but even with just a single 12-month term, the company’s rates begin at only $3.99 a month for the basic shared hosting services. Power Plus plans are also offered at twice the usual rate. Still, no matter what tier of hosting you select from the company, you’re still getting a tremendous value, especially when compared to companies like Amazon, Host Gator, or In Motion.
Lastly, if you’re worried about inflation with your accounts renewal charges, you can throw that discontent right into the rubbish bin! WebHostingPad is the only hosting company we know of that offers a full price-lock on each and every one of their accounts. This lock guarantees that, for the life of your account, the provider will never once inflate your renewal costs. If you sign an account for $3.99 a month, that’s the price you will pay for as long as you lease the space from the provider, bar none. Considering every other host we know has raised their prices slowly but steadily over the years, this guarantee is a tremendous advantage, as well as a great reason to sign with the company. Truly, it’s a unique boon for WebHostingPad.
The Features
However, all the lowest prices in the world can only go so far. Without quality features and feature sets to back up their low price selling point, WebHostingPad is just as useless as free hosting. So what does the company offer in terms of features that make them worth considering?
First out of the box, WebHostingPad supports all of the unlimited and unmetered performance you’d expect of an high-caliber hosting service. There’s unlimited disc space, as well as unmetered bandwidth support for both your own FTP accounts, as well as foot traffic from viewers. Likewise, the company welcomes your email accounts, allowing you to host as many accounts desired, complete with an unlimited number of email forwarders, auto responders, and POP access points. In addition, WebHostingPad will also allow you to park as many domains onto your account as you’d like, alongside as many subdomains as you can create within your framework. It’s one heck of a package, but it doesn’t end there. Add to the list an unlimited number of MySQL servers and CGI-Bins, and you’re considering a whopping amount of features for not a lot of bank.
If you’re concerned about website builders and tracking tools, WebHostingPad supplies each and every one of its accounts with a plentiful number. There’s unlimited support for popular blogging softwares like Drupal and WordPress, alongside built-in message board and forum tools to help develop your website into a conversational powerhouse. eCommerce offerings include an advanced firewall, a ready-to-roll shopping cart, password protected directories, and even 24/7 server monitoring. All of this, of course, is only under the most basic of hosting plans.
WebHostingPad also offers a second tier of pricing schemes called the Power Plus plans. These accounts offer all of the features already listed, in addition to a wealth of statistical and analytical utilities to help you track the progress and growth of your Web presence. Another selling point with these more expensive accounts is their remote hands-on support, allowing WebHostingPad’s representatives to access your account directly should you need assistance with un unexpected problem.
All in all, WebHostingPad offers all of the selling points we typically look for in a shared hosting service. There’s the unlimited and unmetered account points, as well as the superior support for modern coding languages and softwares. However, that’s no guarantee WebHostingPad performs as well within the realm of VPS hosting: So without any more babbling on, let’s take a look at the virtual private server services offered by WebHostingPad, as well as what they mean for you!
Virtual Private Servers from WebHostingPad
If you’re looking for an in-between option stuck directly between a shared hosting account and a full-on (and pricy) dedicated server, there’s really no better option than a virtual private server. The technology makes it unbelievably easy—and cheap—to have your own, dedicated unit with which to run your Web presence and media. However, not all VPS hosting plans are created the same, and if you’re not careful, you may find your host scalping you for these kinds of plans. So how does WebHostingPad stack up?
First and foremost, the pricing: Virtual private server plans with WebHostingPad start as low as $9.95 a month, which is a fair five to ten dollars cheaper than almost any other hosting provider we can name. Additionally, this low price earns each and every consumer that decides to sign with WebHostingPad 10 gigabytes of disc space, 100 gigabytes monthly bandwidth, and a guaranteed 128 megabytes dedicated memory. Setup is also free, and comes with a free dedicated IP address.
Like all the other pricing tiers in WebHostingPad’s VPS hosting experience, this low level offering can be billed at a variable rate, either monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually. We really appreciated this flexibility, as it allows the consumer to pay their web hosting bill whenever it is most convenient for them, while still not running out their budget.
If you’re willing to spend just a little more per month, WebHostingPad’s VPS plans allow for as much as 100 gigabytes of storage, an unlimited amount of bandwidth data transfer per month, and 512 megabytes of dedicated memory. Another selling point we look for with virtual private server plans is burstable memory: This is the additional performance power that works to bail out your server when demand on your data is unbearably high, such as during a peak traffic moment. The lowest amount of burstable memory one can find with WebHostingPad starts at 512 megabytes—a decent size for the middle tier price—and the highest possible is a whopping two gigabytes. That’s one heck of a lot of memory, and if you’re willing to pay the (still cheap) price of $39.95 a month, that quality can be yours.
All in all, if you’re looking to host your site with a quality virtual private server offering, WebHostingPad appears to be a decent way to do it. Aside from raw statistics, the company also offers reseller ready and fully managed VPS hosting, allowing you more freedom on the front-end with less initial work. And to us, that’s always a bargain!
Money Back Guarantee and Money Upfront
So, we’ve now had a look at the various hosting plans offered by WebHostingPad, but we have yet to talk about everything else involved with an hosting experience. First and foremost, we tend to look for some kind of money back guarantee within a company’s hosting plans, and thankfully, WebHostingPad does not disappoint in the slightest. All of the hosting provider’s plans come backed with a full 30-day money back guarantee that will refund any and all money put into your hosting investment, barring the cost of the domain name itself. What this means for you, the consumer, is simple: The host is willing to stand by their uptime, service, and customer support claims. Should you find any of these lacking—or entirely false—the provider offers you the option to return their service at no charge, even a full month after first signing. This is an incredible value, and if you’ve been hesitating to sign onto a virtual private server or optimized shared hosting experience, there’s no better time to get on the band wagon.
If you noticed in our heading there, we mentioned money offered upfront, as well. We weren’t kidding, as WebHostingPad offers all of its users, no matter what plan they’re signed onto a full $200 in free advertisement credit. This includes Google AdWords, Yahoo, Bing, Facebook, and even WordPress blogging tools. The provider even throws in a wealth of AccessGuardian credits to keep you safe and secure in your hosting decision. Typically, we’re used to seeing $75 to $100 in advertising credit, making a value of $200 nearly unprecedented. No matter how you slice it, it’s a lot of free money to work with, and if its the dealmaker in your decision to host with WebHostingPad, we wouldn’t blame you.
WebHostingPad Support and Help System
When it comes to web hosting, especially shared web hosting, we tend to have one, all-important rule: Know your hosts support will be great, because no matter how good the service or the experience are, you’re going to encounter problems during your first few months of service. WebHostingPad is no different, and as such, we took great pains to investigate each and every nook and cranny of their support and help system. Thankfully, we’ve got some pretty good items to point out—at the least, it’s a mark in their favor.
First and foremost, WebHostingPad offers a multitude of ways to contact their representatives, which is always a good sign. Most quality hosts offer at least these methods, and WebHostingPad has them all covered in spades: Live chat, email support, live customer service lines, and an email ticketing system. We especially dug the email ticketing system, which uses a separate log-in panel to mange all of your open tickets. Through this management, it’s unbelievably easy for users to upload their problems for inspection. Along the way, they’ll receive updates when their ticket has been opened, as well as information on when they can expect an end delivery of a solution. It’s smooth, fluid, and works like a charm.
We also loved the option to live chat with a technical support representative. We’ve used live chat services for everything from our cell phones to our automobiles, and we love the fact it’s here with WebHostingPad. If you’re in need of a speedy solution during normal working hours, it’s a quick and painless way to find an answer.
If you’d like to go ahead and contact WebHostingPad about any of the points we’ve already discussed, or about some other question we haven’t yet covered, feel free to do so at any of the points listed below:

Before moving on to a few more points about WebHostingPad as well as our final roundup, we’d also like to mention the incredible knowledge base the provider offers. We like any company that’s willing to help educate their users, and WebHostingPad is a prime example. Users are free to peruse and add to the provider’s extensive databank of server-side issues, common coding practices, and general web maintenance manuals. If you have a solution you’d like to work out on your own, WebHostingPad is more than willing to help you do it.
On a similar note, the company also boasts an extensive web glossary designed to get the new web master up to speed in as little time as possible. Keep seeing terms you’re unfamiliar with while shopping for a good web host? WebHostingPad understands your pain and wants to help, offering a full compendium of some of the more commonly uttered phrases and words in the business. If you’d like to learn a little bit more about Ajax, or just forget forget the difference between a CDN and a CMS, WebHostingPad is there to help.
Overall, we found ourselves very impressed with the sum total of WebHostingPad’s support and help system. Obviously, we haven’t got any way to test the service over a period of years, but initial expectations are set very high. We like the face of the package, and we have a feeling the inside rocks, too.
The Softaculous
Another selling point we particularly like about WebHostingPad is its unique dedication to supplying consumers with as much critical data about their server-side software as possible. The provider manages this through their control-panel based auto-installer Softaculous. This plug-in behaves in much the same way that a Linux distro’s package manager does, serving as a sort of repository for any number of add-ons and programs the average user might need or want to use. Furthermore, the provider isn’t just content to serve up the latest stuff, but makes an effort to include ratings, suggestions, and detailed information about each package too. In other words, WebHostingPad worked to create a utility that simultaneously makes the end-consumers web hosting experience easer, while also providing a utility for the discussion and advancement of the technology itself. We’re tempted to geek out over that, but long story short, it’s a level of commitment we just aren’t seeing anywhere else in the industry.
WebHostingPad Awards and Recognition
Since its inception, WebHostingPad has been winning a number of awards consecutively, including Best Budget Hosting from Web Hosting Awards and Web Hosting Directory, as well as Highest Recommended Hosting from Upper Host. Lastly, the company has also been recognized and awarded with the Editor’s Choice Award from Web Host Magazine and Buyer’s Guide, in addition to the Top 10 Budget Hosting Award from Host Review. Most of these awards and accolades have also been received within the last two years, meaning WebHostingPad is not content to rest on its laurels, but has been striving with each new year to better its services.
WebHostingPad: Common Customer Complaints
Where cheap shared hosting is concerned, we have yet to see any one name thrown around more than WebHostingPad. The provider has been giving out cheap and reliable hosting for as long as we can remember, and during that time, they’ve racked up the awards, pushed the envelope, and generally made a lot of people very happy. However, just because we’ve seen loads of favorable reviews doesn’t mean the web hosting provider is quite as golden as we might think. In fact, their paper promises may not be real life gains in the slightest. How’s a burgeoning web master to find out before signing that digital lease? Simple! Read the customer reviews we’ve accumulated, and then stashed below for safe keeping. Beyond the jump you’ll find a number of categorized and common complaints we’ve received from our users about the web hosting provider, sectioned off for easy reading. However, before we get into the gritty details of those reports, why not have a closer look at the web hosting company itself? So without further ado, may we present an appetizer of one, quick WebHostingPad summary!
Is WebHostingPad a Good Deal?
If you’re unfamiliar with WebHostingPad.com, let us be the first to give you the total rundown. Firstly, the hosting provider offers one of the cheapest plans we have seen anywhere on the net, clocking at just under two bucks ($1.99 per month). That’s a ridiculously low number, even for a shared host. And for that money, you’ll be able to enjoy the full retinue of unlimited options we’ve come to expect from an industry ready hosting company. This includes unlimited bandwidth, disc space, email accounts, and MySQL databases. To top it all off, you’ll also get access to popular hosting services and softwares like Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, PHP, jQuery, Apache, etc. All of these are represented, and at that price, it looks like a bargain that’s hard to argue with.
However, what do our reviewers have to say about the company? To find out, just head on down the break to view our categorized and common complaints about WebHostingPad.
Sales Complaints:
SSL Ain’t Free: Apparently, though their website states otherwise, you won’t be looking at a free SSL-enabled server with WebHostingPad. In fact, the company will charge you an additional $70 a month just to have access to this kind of much-needed security. This has been reported by multiple users, so we’re inclined to think it’s more than just a case-by-case basis. If you’re in desperate need of a secure access method, we suggest you maybe look at a different budget web host.
Auto Renewal Issues: We’ve seen this kind of complaint from multiple web hosting providers, but never quite to this extent. Apparently, WebHostingPad makes it quite hard to turn-off or otherwise disengage the automatic renewal of your website lease. Not only that, but if you refuse to pay for the services you don’t want, WebHostingPad will actually send a collection agency after you. This is really quite troubling, and if it’s as common as we think it is, a tremendous notch in the WebHostingPad getup.
Tech Support Problems:
Disappearing Tech Reps: In an interesting (though horrifying) display of what’s possible with shared hosting tech support, it appears that quite commonly a WebHostingPad tech support representative will announce that the problem is on the servers, and then close the live chat window without any further instructions. Considering tech support is the last line of defense between your website and endless downtime, this is really quite a troubling pattern. All in all, we’re willing to bet that you can’t quite bank on WebHostingPad tech support to get you through a server-hosted crisis.
No Depth At All: This is a first for our complaint compendiums, as we haven’t seen it anywhere else with any other web hosting provider. Apparently, WebHostingPad is occasionally speedy with their tech support responses, though the answers given are typically not very deep in any satisfactory sense. What we’re assuming is happening is that a tech rep will give a user an answer as to why the problem exists, though an answer that does nothing to fix or address the problem. Obviously, this doesn’t make matters worse, and it doesn’t give us much more confidence in the tech support WebHostingPad is offering.
Slow Ordering: Interestingly, we’re also hearing that ordering new services with WebHostingPad is quite a slow and painful process. We’re surprised to hear this as, typically, this is the area in which web hosting providers are quickest to pony up and take your money.
Functionality Problems:
Unlimited Isn’t Quite: We’ve seen this at several other web hosts, and to be honest, we aren’t quite knocked off our rocker to see it listed here. As is par for the course, the so-called unlimited options offered by WebHostingPad don’t quite stack up to the promises. As it turns out—or at least in our reader’s experiences — WebHostingPad starts out each new account with a 10% total space cap, limiting the amount of performance and bandwidth the user can access to host their site. This is an understandable way of doing things, but not when an unmetered limit is advertised.
Steady Downtime: In a pattern that reminds us of World of Warcraft, it appears that WebHostingPad’s will go down for maintenance (or various other reasons) with some frequency, and at usually the same intervals. It appears that every two weeks or so the servers will disappear for a few hours, leaving our reviewer’s sties in the dark. This is really quite a disturbing trend, as the continual downtime of a company’s servers hardly does any good as far as establishing their functionality and stability.
The Final Roundup
In our eyes, WebHostingPad looks to be one of the best options out there for cheap web hosting. The company offers nearly unbeatable prices, or at the least, we haven’t found any providers willing to go much lower than WebHostingPad. Their feature sets look promising, as do they technical support avenues, should some of the features go awry within your first few months of service. On that note, the 30-Day Money Back Guarantee safeguards you from any unwanted commitments up to a full month after the ink on the contract has run dry. Add to this an impressive number of hosted domains, as well as a continued stream of awards and a lengthy history, and we feel certain we can safely recommend the host to those still in need of a budget option.
Still, our WebHostingPad reviews have been mixed, leading us to believe you should consider a few of our other choice favorites before signing onto the WebHostingPad experience. We particularly favor Web Hosting Hub and InMotion Hosting. Considering other hosts may be just as prudent, but when it comes to features and guarantees, we can’t promise any other hosts will be on-par with what WebHostingPad is creating and doing. All in all, the company still looks quite promising on paper, and if you decide to sign with them, be sure to let us know how things actually pan out!

March 26, 2019If I could give a negative star review I would... this morning I was charged for a hosting plan I removed all credit card information and set it to NOT renew... I asked if they would refund my money and was told no...ironnically I also got a call from my Credit Card company from the very card they had on file because there was an attempt to charge $100 as a fraudulent charge to a Boston Market...just 1.5 miles away. Coincidence, I'll let you decide??? I asked who had access to my card, I was told it was encrypted and I asked if someone could decrypt it? I was told the owner had the ability... hmmmm, sounds safe right? Horrible customer service! Beware! Jeff

October 18, 2018WebHosingPad has UNFAIR and UNETHICAL policies!!! These folks are CROOKS! My hosting got auto-renewed. I cancelled it the next day. I called and spoke with a person. I logged in and cancelled online. I filled in all the "paperwork" request they needed. I exchanged another 3 emails with customer service and every time they would quote their crooked policy of NO REFUNDS and would refuse to connect me to a manager. The customer service folks are like robots - no thinking, follow crooked policy, deny any help! This is messed up! This company is UNETHICAL and I would not recommend them! I was a customer from 2010 till 2018 and this is how they treat me? Think about how they will treat YOU! STAY AWAY! BUYER BEWARE!!!

January 29, 2018You get a lot of unlimited services for the base price. Tech support is good and they try really hard to solve any issues. Have had some issues with mysql connectivity but I think that's at my end. Would recommend for the budget user. I have over a half-dozen sites with them.

October 11, 2017over the past seven years i've continuously used webhostingpad, even while also intermittently using other hosting companies, such as hostgator, enom, reseller club, and others, of all these, i have only referred clients to webhostingpad and this was completely without any referral or affiliate fees, simply because they offer support without bullshit hassles that i've had with other vendors and, to my knowledge, not one referral has regretted their webhostingpad choice. a great deal, solid uptime, fanatical support.

August 26, 2017I have lodged some 20 tickets over the past 12 months. Always the same problem: blacklisted SMTP IP (shared) results in bounced mail. They host too many spammers and abusers and since the SMTP IP (sending IP) is shared, your mail hardly ever arrives. Gmail goes constantly in Spam and Hotmail / GMX bounces completed. Hotmail: Unfortunately, messages from [204.93.163.106] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (AS3140). GMX: 554-IP address is black listed. 554 For explanation visit http://postmaster.gmx.com/en/error-messages?ip=204.93.163.106&c=bip ONLY EXCUSES FROM THEM for the past months. They promised to put my domain on a well-reputed IP (whatever that means) - they DID NOT. They promised to clean/unlist their SMTP IP - no idea if they do but NO result whatsoever. If you want to send 3-4 emails a day to gmail or hotmail or gmx - STAY AWAY FROM WEBHOSTINGPAD. The problem has been going on for months now (months!) - so you can see how much they "care" about customer service. Tickets are "responded" but NO action is taken that solves the problem. I now need to refer to a gmail email account because they are unable to provide a clean IP. Horrible. Stay away!

August 20, 2017since 2008, I've been using a multitude of different hosting companies on the web. I've been with godaddy, 1&1 and a couple others. Godaddy was expensive and they were a serious pain to deal with their support department. I thought at the time for the price I'm paying for a lousy package they offered me just didn't measure up. 1&1 was cheaper than godaddy hands down, but again the packages didn't quite give me the flexibility I needed without having to draw blood to get them unlocked. Then I came across one of webhostingpads hosting ads and thought, this has to be too good to be true. Well, I am here to say, I have been with Webhostingpad since 2012, and still today I would do it again. The price couldn't be better for all the features they offer. As for their support staff, godaddy could learn a thing or two from WHP. Each time I needed to contact support, they've been beyond professionals and courteous. And when they've sorted my troubles out, they still make sure I know I'm a valued customer! Now that's service! Fast, efficient and courteous! You'll never know until you try them out!

I had made numerous complaints & tickets submitted due to excessive downtime including being asked to be moved to a "more reliable" server. Once moved to a "more reliable" server, downtime INCREASED instead of having an improvement. A refund because of providing poor service and reliability of only a 73% uptime instead of their "promised" 99% was denied. If you have a business that depends upon email and website to be functioning, I would recommend not using the services of WebHostingPad.

June 26, 2017Horrible company! Everything was fine until I decided to switch companies because Web Hosting Pad raised my rates significantly. When I contacted them about the switch, they said my domain had expired and they weren't able to transfer the domain until I paid them the cost of the invoice, plus $40.00. I pointed out that it was not, in fact, expired, but they continued to refuse to transfer the domain. When it actually HAD expired and I pointed out that they should have made the transfer when I asked, they said I shouldn't have waited until the last minute (I didn't). I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but the company refused to respond to the complaint. It seems to me that if they were in the right, they would jump on the opportunity to clear their name. The fact that they refused to respond to the complaint tells me that they had something to hide, or they had no defense for the way they handled my request. Throughout this ordeal, Web Hosting Pad employees were rude, condescending, and frequently flat out lied to me. Now they have control of my domain name and refuse to allow me to make the transfer, and have also locked me out of my account. I would rather start over with a new domain, however, than give this company another penny.

April 06, 2017I stayed with this hosting for 5 years and did not have many complains, the server was off few times, but I only have 3 simple websites so I did not really care that much. Until I got into this mess with automatic renewal. So when they announced that they are going to charge me double price for coming 5 years, I have decided not to continue, but I payed another service just 3 days before expiry date and webhostingpad used my credit card details for charge me for hosting renewal without my confirmation. They refuse to refund me and I still can't remove my credit card details from the system.

Hi Anna, I apologize you were caught off-guard by automatic renewals, but we have never tried to be sneaky about it. Automatic renewal is written into our terms. The reason we automatically renew is so that customers don't experience any interruptions in service every time their hosting renews. By automatically renewing, we are able to provide continuous service. If you were planning to cancel, you needed to submit a cancellation request. Otherwise we won't know you don't want to continue with your service. We wish you the best of luck moving forward, but we suggest you read the terms for any host you're planning to move to - you will be hard-pressed to find one that doesn't schedule automatic renewals, as it's the standard in the industry (for the reason we stated above.)

March 24, 2017Regardless on which server you are put, their SMTP IP which is shared is constantly blacklisted. It means that the mail you send simply is plain refused by the recipients or goes nowhere. Plained refused by GMX.DE, GMX.NET, WEB.DE and a few others - if you have German customers, you'll have a very very hard time. And not arriving - or arriving with terrible delays - for instance yahoo recipients. We have lodged multiple support tickets. They have ALWAYS reply very quickly. We have ALWAYS receive a short-term fix - like they try to delist their servers or rotate their SMTP IP or move to a different server. The fix works for a few hours or a few days. Then, they are blacklisted again, and again, and again, for months now. Every other week! Surely, this can happen a couple of times. However, if it happens every WEEK for months and months - then this is unacceptable. I give price 0 because email blacklist is killing me. Even though their price-quality could be 5 stars. PITY !!!

March 17, 2017I attempted to transfer my account to a new company on the day that my invoice was due. Despite the fact that the account was still active on the day in question, employees in the customer service department told me that it had already expired. They refused to unlock my account, thus freeing me to take my domain name and web page to another company. I was finally able to get them to unlock my domain, but now they will not allow me to get into the program allowing me to retrieve the backups of my web page. The employees frequently point to the fact that I waited until the last minute to make the change, but it doesn't matter if I waited until 30 seconds before the end of the day, it was still my right to have access to that information. Because they did not release the domain until after the invoice date; I was not able to sign up with the new company until after said date and did not find out that I would need access to those files until after the invoice date. Had Web Hosting Pad done

Hi Jill, We state in our terms of service that the transfer process takes time, certainly longer than 30 seconds. I'm sorry you feel like we were trying to trap you, but I assure you we were not. The system is automated to lock accounts that have reached their expiration date without payment, or else we would be a free web host, which we are not. We understand that WebHostingPad doesn't work out for everyone, which is why we don't charge cancellation fees like some other hosts. The backups, I'm afraid, are and always have been a user responsibility. We cannot release backups of locked accounts for the same reason we cannot allow service to extend beyond the time you paid for, as the backups are stored on our servers. You were free to make your own backups any time before reaching the last remaining time of your hosting. I apologize that you feel this way, but the fact of the matter is that our employees made that point for a reason - if you had started this process a little earlier, you would have found it quite simple to transfer away.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I'll try to address your issues one at a time. 1. We do have an unlimited plans, but as we state when you sign up, they're incremental. Due to the large amounts of spam all emails receive, we don't allow our users to use 10GB of space for mostly old emails, as this would mean everyone would run out of space very quickly. We'd be happy to help you set up a POP3 or IMAP so you don't run into this problem again, however. 2. Our reminder emails about renewals are automated, so if your contact information was correct and up-to-date, you received an email about the upcoming invoice. We have to stop service upon non-payment or else no one would pay for the services they're using. This is in our terms. As for why it may have taken 14 hours to start working again, that's likely a requisite for your payment method of choice. Once the payment is processed, we work to get the account and site back up as quickly as possible, though there can be extenuating circumstances. 3. What exactly do you mean by "got infected" because we'd be happy to help you work through it. We don't offer pro-rated refunds for misunderstandings, but we do offer support to help you address possible reasons why your site got infected, if that's what you believe happened, and help you to create more secure passwords and limit backdoors for hackers and viruses to get in. We apologize you've had a negative experience, but please contact our support team to address this so we can help you resolve it.

February 11, 2017Our company signed up for webhostingpad because of their "unlimited everything" commersials. Very soon we found out that we were out of disk space due to our company e-mail accounts taking too much space. We are a accounting company and have a lot of emails daily. Our website content on the otherhand is not that large. Apperantly they have a term in small print that says that you can use only 10% of site content to your email account. Please beaware of this company!! Their customer service is very rude and unfriendly and they do not answer any of our questions and just keep copy pasting some of their instruction on how to archive old emails away from server!

G-
Hi there. I'm sorry you're unhappy. We do offer unlimited disk space, but limit space for emails due to the very large number of old emails all accounts send and receive, which are oftentimes never cleared out, even after they're unneeded anymore. The reason we offered to help you set up POP3 or IMAP is because it will help you to store your emails locally and allow your site to run quickly with all the extra disk space that will clear up, as well as keep you within our terms. If you really need to store all your emails on servers instead of locally, we'd be happy to direct you to an email-only service or a VPS. I apologize you felt we were rude, but I assure you we would never be so intentionally. We want what's best for our customers.

January 18, 2017I just missed my renewal notice and got suspended, all ok so far, but when I decided to move to another host since they raised prices in 75%, and ask for just a day of renewal for a quick migration, they ask for a whole YEAR's hosting payment or a "compressed backup download addon" that costs the same. This is how they treat their clients. Good riddance.to Webhostingpad!
Comments ()
G-
I'm sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our hosting, but we are unable to offer one-day hosting for accounts suspended due to lack of payment. We send multiple reminder emails about upcoming renewal dates and charges so that clients who are considering switching hosts have plenty of time to gather their site files and cancel their service, or to contact a new hosting company to initiate site migration before the account is suspended. This is to avoid preventable issues like this and ensure clients are not charged for hosting they no longer want. Regardless, we're sorry to see you go. We wish you the best of luck moving forward.

January 13, 2017You get what you pay for. My website got hacked and we think it was due to their bad security. Their service stinks and my site ran at glacial speed.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. The truth is, a lot of security relies on user cooperation. We can protect your site from many forms of malicious activity, but we rely on clients to create strong passwords and update their unsecure WordPress plugins and themes. Even when all aspects of security are covered, exceptions do exist and hackers can get through, at which point we will do all we can to restore your account and help you to maintain proper account security practices. Again, I'm very sorry to hear that this happened. If you're still with us and still having issues, please contact our support so we can help you. I assure you we will do everything we can.

December 12, 2016I have used WHP for many years. They are the absolute cheapest host you can find online who offers the exact same service as any other host. Customer service has always been almost immediate to respond but that has slowed "some" over the last year or so. I do feel the price has gone up from a constant price to an "entry" price but after entry is still cheaper than other hosts. Upgrading from WHP to VPS Depot is, in my belief, in the same building and VPS Depot is HORRIBLE. I lost potentially over $100k because of them once. VPS Depot customer service is WORTHLESS so if you ever upgrade from WHP, choose elsewhere but, as for webhostingpad, they have always been fair with me. Once or twice did I get a customer service from a name I did not recognize who seemed to care less but, generally, CS is great. Site's has had very little down time, ever but has also recently been a little wack. WHP is my go-to host for starter sites until I ever host from my own server.

September 28, 2016Webhosting Pad is the most terrible hosting company. I signed up a 3-year hosting plan (with a free 1 year domain) with Webhosting Pad on Aug 05, 2016. It's a unlimted plan, but I only got 10G web space. They promised 30 day refund guarantee , but they only let my website SLOWLY work for the first month, after the first month I was unable to login to my cpanel and website was down. After my cpanel and website completely stopped working on Sept 09, 2016, I contacted Webhosting Pad to request account cancellation with refund , but Web Hosting Pad refused to refund me and suspended my account! I paid $71.64USD for a 3 year hosting plan, but the server only SLOWLY worked for the first month, then completely stoped working. They suspended my account but took my money. Now, I lost $71.64USD, and got nothing from Webhosting Pad. Webhosting Pad is the most terrible hosting company! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CCOMPANY! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Hello Harry I'm sorry to hear about your experience. The reason your account was suspended is because you disputed the payment with PayPal. We do offer unlimited hosting space. As outlined in our terms of service that you agree to when signing up, we have disk space quotas on each account that starts at 10GB. If you find you're using up most of your disk space and need more we will increase it free of charge. This allows us to make more efficient use of the server's disk space because the vast majority of customers will never reach that initial 10GB quota. I'd be happy to have a member of our support team work with you to make sure that your account is running up to your standard. We, of course, want to make sure your website is available and running efficiently at all times.

Hi, I apologize for any issues you've experienced while having an account with us. After doing some research it appears your account was suspended for hosting phishing material. Unfortunately when we receive these type of notifications we're forced to suspend the account immediately to avoid having the server come down for all of our clients. After each account is suspended a notification email is sent to the email address on file. We are more than happy to work with you to ensure your account is running without any phishing material. Our support team is here 24/7 to assist by running a scan to ensure malicious files are not residing on your account.

I was hosted with webhostingpad 5 years ago. They were down… a lot… and after a year I switched to a different hosting company who has been awesome. I was told there was no ability to refund the balance of my money (I paid up front for a 5 year term to save a few dollars with their $1.99/mo deal). Today I received an invoice for $191 from them!!! When I emailed back that I had left their service years ago, they said I would have to go to their website and log in to cancel the subscription. After 4 years, I haven’t a clue what my password is. Calling got a “the number you called is unassigned” message and the chat feature gave me a 404 error. Even the “password reset” feature wasn’t working. Eventually, despite numerous requests to just cancel the service, someone sent me a new password and I got to navigate through a very non-intuitive series of links and hopefully have left forever. Given my experience with them, please use ANYONE else!

Hi, I apologize for any issues you've experienced while having an account with us. To avoid interruptions of service all of our accounts are setup for auto renewal. Transferring a website away doesn't mean your cancelling your service, as you may potentially be using the account to host other websites. As referenced in our terms of service you must submit a cancellation formally within the account manager. We send out renewal reminders 30 days prior to any charge being made. Additionally, these reminders provide instructions on how to cancel your account if you don't want it to renew. I apologize if you didn't find the interface user friendly. We work hard to ensure that the interface is as easy as possible to use. We welcome any suggestions or recommendations you have that would make it more user friendly. We appreciate your feed back and look forward to any recommendations you would be willing to provide.

June 26, 2016I spent several hours with Webhostingpad support group trying to figure out an email problem that just started to appear. The tech support agent kept telling me it was my configuration causing it and turns out they made some changes due to a network/hardware outage exactly the same day my problem started. I was not able to talk to support over the phone so had to do it via chat session and felt my time was wasted and still could not get resolved. The service has worked good up to this point and was the first time I had to use their support. Based on this experience, I will probably move away from them. I have a email in to them to have someone call me back about this so will see if that actually happens.

May 11, 2016Have had the plan since 2010. Agreed to a 1.99/3 year contract. Renewal price was supposed to be locked in. Renewed in 3 years for correct cost of 71.64. Second renewal comes up and 161.64 is charged to my credit card. Will not refund on cost of plan I did not agree to. They do send me their current billing policy, yet that is not the plan I signed up for. Surprise charges to credit card...BEWARE!!!

I'm sorry for the unexpected change in your bill. Our $1.99/month pricing is a special introductory offer and our plans do renew at the regular rates. Between 2010 and 2013 we changed our billing system and when that happened there were some accounts that didn't have the prices updated to the regular renewal rates, so you actually got renewed at the special introductory rate for a second term. Since then, our billing system has been updated and all prices are correct now which is why your most recent bill was higher. We do send out several renewal notices prior to any charge, both 30 days and 7 days before any invoice date. Again, I apologize for any confusion and if any of this wasn't explained to you I'd be happy to look into it further. Feel free to email me at customercare@webhostingpad.com so I can look into it further. Thanks!

May 01, 2016Well, as the title says - mail is VERY unreliable with webhostingpad. 3rd incidence in 5 days. 1st incidence their mail server ip got blacklisted and all mail bounced. They then cleaned it (supposedly). Then they hosted more spammers and it got blacklisted again - and mail bounces again - in less than 72 hours after 2nd incidence. Now, 3rd incidence, mail is complete down, smtp and pop, nothing corresponds, no way to download my mail and respond to customers in a timely fashion. Too much in too short a time. Not good. Sorry.

April 29, 2016I started using this service at the end of November 2015. I had no problems for two months. In February I began experiencing frequent down time which slowly progressed and became more frequent. Now it is nearly May and my service is down more often than not. The company offers a ridiculous 99% up time guarantee. Basically what they are offering is if you experience a years worth of bad service they will give you a months worth of bad service for free. You are better off staying away from this company.

They improved a lot over these few years. But still always down, like 5,6 time a year. And every time I contact support, they would not reply until they sorted out the issue. So basically useless! I paid $71.64 for 3 years in the past 6 years, (2 contracts). But suddenly they want $161.64 for the coming 3 years ! That's insane! Ok, so I stop renewing and moved to ehost.com (paid $99/ 3 yrs.). But they cut my account 5 days before expiring ! That's so naive ! Luckily, I moved all my files just a couple of hours before that. My advice, if you are hosting your personal blog there, you should be fine. It's the cheapest out there like $1.99/ mo., but make sure you move before expiring.

When cancelling your account you are given two options, to either cancel immediately or at the end of the billing term and if you choose immediate your account will be cancelled right away. I will double check our cancellation procedure to make sure this is as clear as possible so we avoid issues with early account cancellation in the future. I certainly wish you well with eHost.com, but I urge you to check their renewal rates. Their 3 year renewal is currently $5.98/month ($215.28 for 3 years) which is over $50.00 more than our 3 year renewal.

January 03, 2016I was working on my website on 12.26.2015 that was to launch today 1/1/2016. I was having issues with some changes so I decided to restore my site from a known good backup from 12.20.2015 - when the restore completed my entire site was gone. Tech support was extremely unresponsive and my site is still not up after almost a week - i have escalated this matter to management there and no response. the only good backups of my site are now missing along with 10gb of data that I have no idea what support deleted. tech support has done more harm than good. I have no idea how my site got destroyed by doing a restore and neither did tech support. they are incompetent in getting my site back up and have lost my only good backups. tech support is extremely hard to reach. they advertise 24/7 support via email chat or phone -but they purposely tie up these means so that it is nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone during an emergency. i tried to call the phone support - no one available with a m

November 25, 2015I am new to Webhostingpad, and had various questions related to the service compared to the one that I was used to before. I happened to talk to Ron from support. He was able to answer all my questions quickly and very concisely. He was very professional with his questions and the information he conveyed back to me. I was really impressed by his customer service. Definitely a plus to have this type of person on the support line.

May 29, 2015I have been with webhostingpad for 6 years now and they are great! Anytime I have a question, I just submit a ticket and someone gets back to me within an hour, usually 10 minutes or so. My website is always up and their software is easy to use. They have plenty of templates to use and they updated their user interface so it's more user-friendly. At this point I just installed Wordpress and use that for my website. The price is hard to beat and sometimes they have specials too, even for existing users. Definitely recommend their service.

April 29, 2015I've been with these guys for 2 years. At first, they seemed like a great step up from a previous company. However, as time went on, I came across reoccurring issues: sites being offline, them suspending my account for alleged spam abuse (never did any thing except email my clients with software THEY provided + google killed me for a "SITE SUSPENDED" page left as placeholder for my pages. Google deemed this to be a phishing page ), super-slow loads, apathetic customer service people, and being told to "submit a ticket" for just about everything. If you're like me, you see their price and think, "dude, that's affordable". However, when you are spending real money on SEM, SEO, and social media marketing, only to find your pages have been down for who knows how long, you realize you're actually loosing money. To be fair, outages are brief. However, if you are actively sending people to your site or running ecommerce, it's a killer!

February 10, 2015Victor K and Kevin A assisted me with a site (transferred from another competitor's server) of which I was totally lost. After a few questions and emails, they had me up and running. I had been contemplating on moving my sites in January 2016 (renewal date) but now I feel that I may not have gotten the expertise somewhere else. In fact, I think I will be renewing early! Thanks guys/gals. Jim

January 28, 2015It's been almost one (1) year since I registered my website and the service has been really great. I have also registered two more websites and even referred a lot of my friends who are now enjoying your hosting services. Webhostingpad is number one (1) for me...

January 24, 2015This is a terrible hosting company. The hosting fee schedule changes all the time. I've been double billed multiple times and had to suffer interacting with there horrible customer service / bill dept. in order to fix thier mistakes. I'm amazed at the presence of any positive reviews. Read multiple review site if you are considering this hosting company.

Most apps I tried to install were worthless and at the renewal time for domain name and space, if you choose not to renew through them you will get an email saying they turn your account over to their attorneys then they will find your new credit card number and put it in without your permission and try to charge it anyway.. I cancelled their service on the spot and notified my CC it had been hacked.

January 12, 2015I had several email downtimes for more than a day. Their email servers were blacklisted for SPAM a dozen times. They dont tell you but they limit sent emails to 300 email addresses per hour which is rude and unrealistic. I have filed to deliver email notifications to my clients because of that and have been charged for breaking SLA. Support is not even close to 24/7. They dont reply at all during night. Chat is not avaialble during day. One of the shittiest ISP-s I've seen and Ive seen many.

Excellent customer service, amazing uptime, and priced amazingly well!
tldr; WHP is the best low priced web host we've ever had the pleasure of working with. With such a low price, don't just take our word for it, go find out for yourself! Now for the wall of text: We've been with WebHostingPad.com for what, now more than 7 years? Maybe longer. We host a half dozen websites with them, and the price is phenomenal. We were always wary of cheap hosting, but wow, these guys and their service put the competition to shame. Amazing support team, quick and helpful. They leave you alone as long as you maintain a healthy and secure site, and are there when you need them, night or day (which is helpful since our org is international). Their chat support is super fast, and any critical tickets get resolved within minutes or non critical tickets within hours depending on the issue. We are on their cheapest package, and our organization has saved a ton of money going with WHP over other solutions. We're quite happy. After they helped up resolve our latest self-inflicted issue, we told support we recommend WHP to other orgs when we are asked for webhosts to recommend, and WHP support suggested we leave feedback here, so here we are! We don't know how they make their money with so low prices, while still giving such great service. Perhaps its because they have the right team and know how to retain good talent, and thus retain their customers. Thanks WHP if you're reading this. We know we don't give you much in terms of revenue, and certainly we've probably put you through more then our worth in grief by pulling the support trigger often too soon for even the little things, but always you've been there and always willing to help get our questions answered, and emergency situations resolved quickly and efficiently, and more importantly, you've done an outstanding job in terms of uptime and support to keep our sites running. The latest complete recovery and restoration of our sites from a targeted hack that wiped everything out due our own negligence, only took an hour by your team to get us back to a place as if nothing happened, as the most recent example. Thanks for getting us back on our feet (again)! If anyone wants a third party opinion, and to verify this review, by all means contact us by send email to sales at buffalomachineworks dot com; but for such amazing prices, we don't know why anyone would simply just not sign up and see for themselves. We hope WHP stays in business for a long time. Finding a good priced, but responsive host is rare these days. We hope this review helps convince others to sign up with them so they can stay in business even longer, as we definitely will be staying with WebHostingPad in the future.
