Their experience and expertise really makes a huge difference. Inmotion Hosting has earned 3 out of 3 Stars from CNET to become a CNET Certified Service Provider. They have maintained this prestigious position from one of the most recognized names on the Internet since 2003! Inmotion has worked with SWsoft to provide Virtual Dedicated Server platform based on SWsoft's Virtuozzo, a leading virtualization software that allows web hosts to provide fast vps hosting services.
Not all VPS hosting providers are created equal. A good company will deliver a platform that makes managing your virtual environment a breeze, and more importantly, ensure that you stay up and running. Specifically, a solid VPS host will constantly monitor each account to solve problems immediately, before they impact your website negatively. This is what the best VPS hosting providers are made of.

One good and bad thing about InMotion is the "ready to go out of the box" aspect of InMotion's vps hosting. We like it, but super technical people might not.
Performance
There are three things that drive VPS hosting performance: hardware, number of virtual private servers on the hardware, and the resources each VPS gets. InMotion uses Dell servers with 16GB or 32GB of RAM, 2 high end Quad Core Xeon Processors and most importantly, 15K SAS hard drives. We wish they would release the number of VPS they put on a server, but they probably don't want their competitors to know. They do say it is tied to actual performance of the individual VPS and the types of packages that are on the hardware (they offer three). It would be good to know this, but their customer feedback often talks specifically about how fast the service is.
Reliability
Their uptime is excellent, and we believe this is probably for a few reasons. Their servers are really high end with redundant power supplies and RAID10. This means that failed electronic components (like a hard drive) won't matter, your VPS will continue to run. Also, Inmotion uses BGP4 bandwidth to help protect from problems with routing on the Internet. They also do a lot of "peering" with really big ISPs to help keep the routes short and fast. Last, InMotion allows for bursting of usage by your VPS, meaning that when your VPS gets a spike in traffic, it stays up and does not shut your site down.
Ease of Use
A virtual private server is basically your own computer. Many hosts will have a limited setup and you will need to configure the vps to support a web site. One of the nicest things is Inmotion's VPS hosting comes with all the software you will need to use your email and run your website. When you get your vps they will have preloaded Cpanel, setup your firewall, and configured your first account. Inmotion will even configure different versions of PHP and MySQL if you want. Just upload your web site, change your DNS and you are done. To someone who is busy or not that technical, this is really important.
Price
The price is very good, especially considering a full Cpanel license ($425/yr value!) is included. There is no setup fee like some other hosts and they have a 30 or 90 day money back guarantee.
Technical Support
VPS technology is still quite new, but Inmotion Hosting has been providing VPS hosting for over 6 years. They have great technical support that really understands how virtual private servers work. A lot of customer feedback is really positive about Inmotion's technical support.

A virtual private server, or VPS, is created by special software that divides a single physical server into a multitude of virtual servers, each capable of operating independent as their own entity. Each server can run its own operating system, applications, and function as if it were installed on its own machine. This same technology is being used to consolidate everything from applications to entire networks. Optimizing web hosting platforms is just a small sample of what virtualization can do.
VPS hosting is perfect for the individual or organization that has outgrown the limitations of shared hosting, yet are not quite ready to move up to a dedicated server. It allows you to enjoy a level of control, performance, and security similar to that of a dedicated server, but at a price that usually isn't too much higher than a plan built on a shared hosting platform. This extra boost of power makes it ideal for developers, as well as small businesses with more demanding needs.
Although VPS hosting is not the answer for everyone, it comes with a unique set of perks that can't be denied. Following are some advantages that make it the perfect middle ground between shared and dedicated hosting:
Administrative Level Access - When root access is included, a VPS will give you the same level of control as a dedicated server. This means you can install your own applications, make configurations, perform server reboots, and much more.
Enhanced Performance - Shared hosting makes you vulnerable to the traffic and activities of your neighbors. This is not the case with VPS hosting. Since you often have your own guaranteed resources, you are isolated from everything else on the physical server, meaning the performance of your environment never falters, no matter what arises.
Heightened Security - In the shared hosting environment, security issues are a major concern due to the privileges service providers give their users. With VPS hosting, your file system is private and fully secure, meaning it cannot be accessed or viewed by any other users, regardless of what permissions they may have on the server.
